Here in Calif we are gitting record snow falls in our mountains, Houses are flooded because of excess rain, flood water is freezing around the houses. Maybe the warming only happens in the summer? Stan

If man is responsible, then why are the ice caps on Mars melting? It's frozen CO2, but they're still supposed to be melting.

I suppose as long as Al Gore is raking in his millions I should just shut up about that, huh?

Truck driving cousion of mine says that trucks burning USLD were less fuel efficient. Whats the point of lowering emmisions if you actually burn more? our government at work. Personally, I agree about saving energy, I would like to be as least reliant on anything that I can produce myself, in food, feed, and fuel, and I try to conserve. I'm not going to do someting I don't have to. I don't mind going commonsense things, but you will not tell me what to do with my land, and you will not tell me what to believe. AL Gore is an Idiot, the man wants to get his way, but don't believe in conservation. Look at his house. If he wanted to set an example, he would live in a 4 bed 2 bath house and would listen to common sense. You thin woods to clear overgrown stands to clear undesirable trees and to clear litter to prevent million acre fires. Global warming, if it is real, is maybe 3-5% man, and the rest sun and natural effects. Don't understand this carbon dioxide stuff. Say we expel 40 tons apeice a year, but plan 2 trees and offset your breathing. Farmer ought to do well planting crops every year. Melting ice? If you want to see a scientific theroy, watch the movie Day After Tomorrow. Make more sense than Al Gore.

I hate the term "global warming" as it implies that the world is getting so warm that we will all be outside barbecuing in our shorts in the middle of January sometime in the new future. The correct term is "climate change", as some areas will, in fact, become colder. And climate change will not only effect temperatures but precipitation, storm systems, etc. as well. Up here in Ontario, we have certainly seen the effects of climate change. Our winters are gradually getting warmer and warmer, and the past few have been extremely mild with little precipitation. This year the temperature has been fluctuating like crazy, and we have had only 2 snowfalls, in which the snow stayed on the ground for only a few days. Currently the ground is bare of snow, and we hit a record high temperature of 15 degrees Celsius today, when we should be somewhere around -5 to -10 degrees Celsius.

FYI, recent records research has showed a cooling and warming trend has been going on since records were kept. Every 30 years or so there is a shift. Back in the 70s the so-called experts were claiming global "cooling" and predicting the next ice age. The problem now is the politicians have figured out they can make money off of you by demanding you save energy or face fines, taxes, cars with no horsepower (remember the Yugo?), carbon offsets, blah blah blah. By the way, anybody aware that the new national nergy bill signed into law bans the sale and use of the incandescent light bulb starting in 2012 !!?? Thats what i heard anyways.

Reminds me of YK 2000 and people buying wood stoves and not installing them. Nice yard sale items. What was the last ice age only 10,000 years back? The earth cycles and lake Michigan go up and down and noone can explain why. As for CA them thar hills were not suited to populate sooo the fire burns and the rain wash and the sea takes back. I think the biggy in store for the state of CA is where to get water. Gore is making out better with his warming thing than if he got the white house thanks to the hanging chads.

I saw a rather interesting show on TV a week or so back. I think it was an anti-warming sermon but in my opinion they blew it.
It showed a valley formally filled with a glacier that has now thawed. Today the valley is filled with new growth trees.
Given the words that global warming is caused by 'greenhouse gasses' and trees absorb and convert these to good gasses to me it seemed to indicate the world has figured a way to protect itself. Given enough time it will probably figure a way to control (or eliminate) it’s most troublesome pest.

I've spliced cables in ditches in hot and cold. When its -17 or +17, I'm wishing it was 90. Seems to me that one fella's laughing hundreds of $millions in personal contracts all the way to the bank at our expense as of lately. Any president that says "Lets not be oil dependent on OPEC or anyone else, lets open up drilling and refining"...he'll/she'll get painted by the huggers as the "environmentally unfriendliest" president of all time. Kind of like saying let the loggers thin out the forests instead of burning millions of acres and homes to the ground each year, thus contributing to "global climate change", which is the new buzz term that explaines how global warming causes global freezing.

Did you see about a month ago where the UN wants us to help pay for the south american rain forest fires to stop "global warming", after scientists predicted that the rain forests would be ashes by now, and they're still 80% in tact? Yep, its a scam, at our expense...if you ask me.

Throw another log on the fire and stay warm like me Stan. No politics or OT involved, this topic affects farmers and our nation's economy directly.

That may be true... Unfortunately a lot of the 'science' in this area is politically and financially motivated.

If I wanted research dollars, I wouldn't be working on a project to find out that the environment is 'ok'. I would be working on something that would confirm people's worst fears and then ask for more money to investigate it further. Oddly enough, that seems to be what has happened...

Call it what you want. I've worked out in the elements all my life. The sun feels more intense every year. Kind of like being under a magnifying glass. Not so sure about over all temperature being hotter or not.

My mamaw told me once how bad she felt, and that I didn't want to get old. Well gramps responded with the hell you don't George. He claimed that was the biggest thing man had to look forward to. He also claimed that every drop of water that was ever here is still here, unless Neil Armstong Pi$$ed it off on the moon. Says in the Bible that God will let no man destroy what he has created.

A lot of snow in the B.C. mountains, too. It could snow so much everywhere that enough heat is reflected back into space that we could shortly be entering another ice age!

30 years ago they were belly aching about Global Cooling and how the Japanese were going to take over the world. Now they are belly aching about Global Warming and how the Chinese are going to take over the world. Any predictions on what they'll be belly aching about in another 30 years...? ; -)

Those experts determined 2007 was the 5th warmest year on record - in October. Guess the last 2 months don't count. Dec was one of the coldest in a long long time 'here'.

If it's any consolation, the Ice Age people believe that a warming period (to generate more moisture in the air to turn to higher snowfall) is necessary to bring back an Ice age...
Then, too, there're the people who believe increased earthquake activity has increased undersea volcanism, and it's the ocean that's warming the air, not the other way around...
Pity I won't be around to see how it all turns out (at least I hope not!!!)...
(Just a few random thoughts to cheer up your day...)
