Oliver/White has the build cards, as mentioned below.

At Deere, any of the "newer" pieces we can look up ownership history and warranty claims. Whats neat is me dad's rotary mower was originally bought in Alberta, and we live in SE Minnesota. Talk about a journey! The warranty claim section helps a ton especially when looking to buy, because of course, you can figure out how good the machine is pretty fast.

There are 2 ways of doing it. #1 Know the person who bought it new, where he bought it and where it has been since then,
#2 Lie

If you're looking for info on IH, it's all gone.

Steven,

After I "found" my dad"s 1950 H about 4 yrs ago, I contacted the Wisconsin Historical Society to see if they could tell me when my tractor was built/where shipped, etc. I got a short letter from them, as follows:

"Based on the information you provided, your Farmall H was built at Farmall Works in Rock Island, Illinois in February, 1950. Enclosed is the price list for Farmall H tractors and attachments closest to that date. Since the copy is under 5 pages, we are sending it to you at no charge."

Old IH archives evidently do not have info on where shipped, etc. But just knowing the build date is nice to have, and the pricing info is very interesting.

For John Deere tractors the Two Cylinder club can provide build & ship dates and shipping location for a modest fee. Sometimes there may be other info such as options, etc. available.

For an Oliver, the build cards with all that info are available from the Floyd County Museum. I don't know about the other makes.

On ebay? I am either misreading the question or you know something about ebay that I sure don't know.

I understand. I was mis-reading your post. I read it to mean there were sources on ebay for tractor history (like the way they look up ISBN numbers on books) and was sure this was not true.
I would LOVE to know the history of every tractor I own but, sadly, it will never happen.
