I am checking out the landini tractors.. They are not much cheaper than most others in the same size, but they are set up a little different/ better in some ways.

I am looking at the evolution 6865 and a power farm 85.

The tractor will used for hay work and small plowing/disking jobs..
They have the Perkins engines with 12 speed forward/reverse with manual forward/reverse shifter..

Just wondering if any one else has used/own one of these tractors.

I am also located in TN. My dealer is Eaton and Son Repair and they have been very good to me. I have a McCormick GX50 ( Landini Mistral America), and have driven the McCormick CX 85 ( modern version of a Case Design). I am looking at getting a CMAX 75 ( Landini Powerfarm 75) as well. I really like the way the Landini"s are set up, and I like the 12x12 shuttle. Overall they are nicely made tractors. I have 500 hours on the GX and the only problems are ones I have created. I have not driven a CNH tractor to compare, but i have run a Deere 5425. Nice tractor but I don"t like the layout or the shift set up.

Thats what my search has lead me to as well..

They don't sell McCormicks near me yet.. I was looking to find dealers on the McCormicks a while back.

I bought this tractor tractor for 24000 US. Most tractors that size, with the same options, cost about 3-4000 dollars more.

I am a big fan of JD's, but for the money difference, I like this tractor very well..

Landini has been in business a long time, were independent, then used to be part of Massey Ferguson, they are no longer AGCO, but part of ARGO, who also owns McCormick. I'd say Landini has been sold in North America for 30 years anyways, plus all the MF red&decaled Landinis ie. 274-4 etc.
The 6865 "Evolution Series" is the same as the McCormick MB America
The PowerFarm is the same as the McCormick C-MAX

This is an MB65 is offered at $35,000 CDN, same as the 6865.

They are made in italy. I am buying mine in tennessee. The dealer is a good friend and says the tractors are very dependable. He also has a good stock of parts that could need to be changed during normal wear.. He also says landini has a warehouse in the US that carries a good assortment of parts..

It seems to be a good tractor.. I have put about 17 hours on the 6865 and feel like it will do great.

You can get a Laurin cab for a 6865, but by the time you buy and install it it will cost almost as much as a PowerFarm with factory cab and you'd not have A/C and still have the shifters in the middle of the floor.
Personally, I would not be opposed to having a 6865 on the farm, I'd have an ALO loader put on it. The shuttle works great with your left hand.

I like the way the 6865 evolution is user friendly.. the set up is easy to use as well..
The power farm may be out of my reach with the cab.. A lot of difference between the two tractors money wise.. I don't think the cab would be worth the extra money..

The Landini looks good sitting beside my 5420 jd, 451 massey M farmall, and the jd mt...
Red green and blue.. I am definately not prejudice. LOLthird party image

I have experience on a 5860 (smaller older version of the 6865)
12F/12R Shuttle, fwa w/ 4 post ROPS and loader.

dislikes: had to turn 4 way flashers off to use turn signals, bumped head on 4 post (it's padded).

Likes: very Simple tractor, no electronics, later evolution (5860/6860 etc) could be had in red or blue. Decent transmission, syncro shuttle.
FYI, Local Landini dealer had a brand new 6865 fwa on for $27,000 CDN. IIf a wanted a Cab, the PowerFarm is the route to go,
"Power 4" with the clutchless shuttle a declutch button on the shifter with 25MPH/40k trans would be a nice loader/hauling tractor. Seems to me a Power Farm 85 fwa w/cab was $37,000 CDN

It has the perkins engine i them.. I am leaning more towards the power farm only because it has a cab.. The evolution doesn't come with cabs..

I have a 6865 that i brought home today to demo for a week.. Seems like a good strong tractor.. The lift force is great.. I have a massey 4 bottom 16" plow that is three point.. The evolution handles it better than my deere.. Although the deere is two wheel drive and shorter wheel base.

I think the landini may turn out to be an great tractor...

I have to spread some manure mixed in some old hay tomorrow. I may use the landini even though the cab would be a lot warmer..

We use one for orchard and field work here in eastern MA. Seems to be strong tractor still after 5+ years. Only beef is some cheap aspects like the sheet metal on the fenders and seat covering didnt last very long. Cant get a replacement seat for reasonable money either.

If it was me, I'd go with the Evolution. Powerfarm will give more comfort but I believe the Evolution to be easier to work on. BTW, Landini is owned by McCormick, so some parts can be got through them. Also, McCormick sells the Evolution over here as the MB America series. Good tractors as far as I can tell, and if it has a perkins, you can't go wrong. HTH.

I have not used one personally but my neighbor has one. I can't tell you the model but it is a good size machine. It is 4wd and I guess around 50 to 70 hp. He loves it. It is around 5 years old now and he has had zero problems with it. He runs a 8 foot shredder on it and mow's an estimated 50 acres about 4 to 5 times a year and he used the FEL for feeding round bails to his horses and cattle. He used the hell out of it and it just keeps working, I'd call it a great tractor.
