It's real cold outside.. think temp is like 19 with some wind blowing. I started my Long 610 Tractor up and the rear blade raised on the 3 pt as it should. Let tractor warm up good. Used it some and was on a hill facing upward with front. I lowered the rear blade at that time. .. Was unloading stuff I had on the front loader into a shed. ... When I was done. I pulled the lever for the rear blade and it attempted to raise. But would go no further up. .. So I moved tractor some to maybe release it. But still would not work. Ended up taking blade off for now to use tractor. Any thoughts on what happen are how I might fix this. Want blade back on if I can.

Up Date on tractor in reply to Larry59, 01-02-2008 09:27:37
The tractor company I bought it from. Come to my house and looked at it. Said it was from a leaking cylinder on the loader. .. So they came with a big truck and trailer and took it to their shop. ... Going to repack both cylinders on loader at no cost and deliever it back to me.
Sounds good to me so far. Thanks for all reply comments. Always apperiated

What the others have said plus...

To check the hyd. oil level, there is a dipstick on the top of the transmission case. where it is flat, to the right of where the pto gear lever goes into the transmission. It may be different on 4wds, but I doubt it. If you can't see the little round handle on top of the dipstick, do some serious looking in the area. I don't know what level the oil is supposed to be, it is different, I think, on 4wd. Google Farmtrac and ask to talk to a service representative.

Have you changed hydraulic oil and filter yet? The filter could be clogged. Remember, if you have the old type of filter with a built in strainer, cleaning the steel mesh strainer might not be enough and you will need a new strainer. If its the later spin on throwaway type, no problem, just replace.

Does your front end loader work off the tractor hydraulics? Some loaders have a separate oil resevoir and operate off the pto, or at any rate, the pto has to be turning for them to work. There is a square 4 bolt plate above the pto shaft that the pump fits in. If the loader is working off the tractor hydraulics the combination of using the 3ph, the loader, and being on a hill may, as the other posts said, starved the hydraulic pump.

I went and looked at the transmission dipstick on my tractor, it's on the right side of the transmission case across from the pto gear lever, and just in front of the little notches that the hand brake catches on.

Hydraulic fluid is oil. Good way to get hurt or break things is to hop on, then try to figure out what all the controls do. GET AND READ !!!! the manual before you get on your toy. We always farmed with older equipment and first rule was to check EVERYTHING before starting.

Fiats have a tendency to air lock sometimes, like the others said check the fluid level in the trans. Then hook a fitting with no hose on it into one of the remote lines hold the remote lever down that controls that line until the air is purged and fluid shoots out.

Good chance you fluid level is low and with it sitting up hill like that the pump doesn't have any fluid to push back to the cylinder. Also if its low it can burn out your pump.

Maybe some ice in the hydraulic system.

It may be as simple as having the tractor on an uphill grade robbed the pump of hydraulic fluid . If you have the tractor on a level surface try the 3 point hitch with no attachment . It may work. If it does work check the fluid level , make sure its not watered down ( water in hydraulic fluid will make it look light brown and foamy). If it is watered down you need to change it because the next thing is it will freeze and not work at all. HTH

Is your hydraulic fluid level where it should be? Sounds to me that between the rear blade and front loader, there isn't enough hydraulic fluid to go around.

How steep an incline were you on? Maybe the hydraulic fluid simply drained to one end of the reservoir away from the pump.
