Good work ethic with that kid. I was the neighbor kid that cut all the lawns for about 6 homes, $10/lot. 25 years ago. Kids these days are too busy playing video games to work. Since mommy and daddy pay for everything.

Dave,

Take him to church and show him an alter or go on a field trip and show him the nursing ward at a hospital and then stop by the local cemetery!
Either one of those options should have him running for the hills, lol!

Joe

PS. In all actuality, if he truly is a gentleman you should encourage him to date your daughter because WE (I'm including me, lol) are one in a 100,000 anymore!

Hard to find kids that age to work. The 4 kids that I have had helping clean barn , and they were damn good every year, till last week. One called and bailed on me the last minute, another never even called to say he wasnt coming and the other 2 that just trned 18 had very little ambition and were late. I had 4 other guys new this year, 2 just got out of basic, great workers, another was close to my age, worked hard but needed to break often, just like me. A "freind" of the daughters came to help. Turns out he lives in town, works everyday and every other weekend at a local dairy, and wants to go to college for an ag career or farming. Great kid, hardest worker in the bunch. Then the next night I guess he brought the daughter to a movie. Hmmmm. He passed the "cleaning barn" test. He loves tractors and farming, can milk a cow, works hard, is a gentlemen, likes to hunt. I always tell the help to stay away from my daughter, but this kids a pretty good one, how the heck am I supposed to chase him off??

Dave- For heaven's sake, don't run off the good ones, encourage them! Believe me, there's plenty of bums to run off.

Me too. I stopped where a bunch of 15 and 16 year old boys were playing basketball at the local church, and offered them 10 bucks an hour to help haul in hay. They told me it was to damn hot to work. Sweat was just pouring off of them. I guess playing is ball isn't work.
