I've tried several ways of runnings want ads looking for old equipment especially old combines, normally the message is something along the lines of young collector looking for old running and non running combines around Wyoming please call at.... or email at.... depending upon if its a paper of internet classified. I've used craigslist, this site, several other antique sites, and the local paper. I've had some success with this site but does anyone have any suggestions or other places to try?

Thanks and if you got an old combine stop in at the combine board on this site and show us some pics...

Thanks everyone, I've brought some home from my other attempts, but I know their are a lot more combines in the area that are just sitting or are being given to a scrapper to cut up. There was a really nice Sp-12 that someone gave to the junk yard and they smashed it. Who is the vintage combine guy in NE?

Google may start a classified ad service, if they do, you will be able to buy or sell most anything.

Seems like the vintage comebine man in NE can give you a idea on the subject? Hunt the hilly ground areas and farm yard full of over grown brush and knock on the door, be surprised what is stuck away about 30 years ago in sheds. Large town sunday paper adds are well read. Cash in large letters as the first word will get a quick read that most adds don't. Keep a wide range of equipment in mind other than combines. Let the group know when you chain the first one home?

Get to know the rural mail carrier,County or township workers that take care of the roads, LP or fuel delivery drivers, UPS man, machinery or fertilizer salesman. Anyone who has a reason to spend some time driving around the country and tell them what you are looking for, if they spot one, you can always find out who owns it and contact them. Maybe offer a small finders fee. Make up some signs and put them in local stores. Let it get around that some young fool is paying real money for that old junk combine setting over the hill and someone will get ahold of you. Chris

How about this "WANTED your old combines, running or not, cash money paid, please call for details". thats more of a direct approach and leaves very little room for confusion and when people contact you, you can weed out the combines you don't want. By putting in that your a young collector, it makes it sound like your looking for gifts, which is a turn off to a lot of people, however everybody is looking for cash even though you may not be willing to pay much.
Hope this helps,
