The original subject was "Re: IH 1466 Hydraulic fluid change".

What is the best spec oil to use for this tractor. I need to drain and refill mine, it's foamy and acts up when cold, so I think it might have water in it also.

The archives can"t be wrong Allan, have you checked? Better go look to make sure.

It was probably an answer you gave. Your wisdom abounds.

To answer the question, use Hy-Tran fluid. Others will work but I"ve been yelled at enough about oil on here.

Jim

Well, the question came up when I was digging through my old 5 gallon buckets laying around. I have a leaky steering cylinder that I need to replace, and I am going through about 5 gallons of oil every three months or so. Since I am a rancher and not a farmer, this tractor only gets run every three to five days, and like most small time ranchers, I have a day job, and it requires me to travel quite a bot. Seems the wife ran out of fluis and bought some, but got 5 gallons of Hy-Tran Plus equivalent. I Dont like mixing blends.

I now have a steering cylinder, and am going to replace it, and do the Hyd Fluid change-out. Thank You.
