I have cow poop and some non-eaten hay residue that I put on my fields.

I bought an old JD ****slinger for a few hundred at a local farm auction place. Had to replace a section of square chain and that was it. Local JD dealer had the chain. It has the moving floor scraper with the fingered wheels on the rear with an auger.

Maybe something like that would sling chicken poop too.

Mark

A knight slinger would work good. Contact your soil and water office. Alot of counties are purchasing them bigger verticle beater spreaders and you can dial in the rate you want. Most time you can use it for free if you spread it according to their recomendation and report the yeild difference to them.

Most of the spreaders around here are Chandler or BBI some Adams. An all hydrolic is best. A converted comercial fertilizer spreader don't work very well because the door opening is too small.

look around for a used fertilizer spreader. If you get an old Henderson or Doyle spreader they have an adjustable door and the Doyle brand have a 2 speed gear box on the fans so you can change the rate as needed. There used to be a lot them around, everyone started going to the bigger trucks with floaters, so the small dry boxes were put back in the corner and not used. I do not know where you are, but my dad used to have 3 of the old dry spreader boxes, he sold one to a neighbor, one to a guy to spread chicken litter in Arkansas, I am not sure what happened to number 3, I will ask him tonight and see what happened to it. I am in central Illinois. You might be able to find one without a truck for a couple hundred dollars.

I have a Chandler litter spreader works good. A regular spreader will put it on to heavy.
