When I started my project, I looked far and wide for the best deal on a rebuildable MF50. I travelled 300 miles to pick up a 65. I passed on a deal on a 50 that was more money, but just down the street.

It cost me $500 bucks to get the 65 home. And it turned out that the one that the 50 had a recent rebuild. There is another $1500. I cheaped out on the initial investment and cost myself $2000 bucks and had to settle for a model different than what I was looking for.

The fella that bought the 50 is using the heck out of it.

I think ya did fine. Be sure to post pics when you get started cause we are gonna compare them to the finished product.

Here are pics of: as found, ride home, finished product. I am still happy about my project, but wish I would have picked up the closer one.

Aaron

Hey not, I couldn't agree more! I used ATF for years, right up until I used PB and Kroil for the first time. It does seem to work great in automatic transmissions. It is nice to get one close to home every now and then. The little Farmalls are great little tractors if you have a use for them, I have three C's and an A.

Use that ATF as Chris suggested. I used it on an A 31 years ago. I had the head and pan off and I used a piece of 2X2 oak and drove them out. Some of the sleeves came out with the pistons. Loosen all the rod and main caps. I split the tractor
and had the engine on an teardown stand. It was easier to work on too. I had to replace the sleeves, pistons, fenders, tires, wiring, steering wheel and all the rims. I gave $100.00
for the A91 plow and tractor. Hal

Doesn't really matter how much it is, as long as you are happy with the deal. We all know someone who has to rain on our parade. You paid too much,I know of one cheaper, they sold one last week that was perfect for 1/2 of that, etc. You have seen the tractor and if you are comfortable with it, Great. When you get it home, pull out the spark plugs and fill cylinders with auto trans fluid and let it set for a while and then see if you can break her free. Have fun! Chris
