I am looking to purchase a rebuild kit for the above referenced pump.

Couuld a reader provide a contact of who carries the parts and comments as to their fairness of prices.

Does NAPA or any other automobile part store sell Hercules parts?

I do not want to have the pump rebuilt, I merely would like to buy the basic parts, such as the bushings, seals and gaskets.

Any information would be appreciated.

NAPA is the last place I'd ever look for a specialty item. Even if they could locate an old part, it would pass through four hands before them - and they'd probably charge a rediculous amount for it. I just bought a bearing down at NAPA (in weak moment) and paid $29 for a common little 6202 ball bearing. I just bought some spares on-line and paid $1.50 each for same bearings - even the same make and #. So, how does a $1.50 bearing become a $29 bearing?

Water-pump parts are usually generic. Rebuild companies rarely order such parts by OEM #s, they just fit to size. And, there are many newer type seals that elimate the need to repair or replace old impellers that are worn.

That all being said, there were many mag-drive aux. water-pumps used on Hercules engines - I've seen them on a few Cletrac Generals and Leader tractors - late 40s - early 50s.

Zimmermans's is still the place to try first.

Here's a Hercules chart from my 1951 Tractor Field Book and it shows many Hercules with the waterpump available as an option on thermosiphon engines.

It has to be inserted in HTML to be in this box. I haven't tried the newest featurs here, e.g. the "optional URL" box at the bottom.

Zimmerman may not have it because he is the Cletrac man and no Cletracs (or Oliver) used the IX-5 engine.

NAPA may well have parts, if your pump is a Herc add-on, and they show it. If it's someone else's aftermarket add-on, and you don't have a maker and model, they won't know where to look. (If your pump is disassembled, there may be numbers on the seals; bushings are usually generic, etc).
Someone already mentioned Zimmerman, who's highly regarded as knowledgeable and helpful; there's also Jerry Biro, spoken of as highly (biro@alltel.net). He may specialise in JXD's, but may have invaluable information.
My suggestion would be to talk to Zimmerman and/or Biro; that should give you a better idea of what you're looking for, and possibly suggestions as to where to look. I have several outfits that stock some obsolete Herc parts, mentioned in other posts, but I have no info as to prices or dependability; I can email them whenever you'd like. And water pump rebuilders may well sell rebuild kits too.
