I think this forum is great...

I believe a lot of the off-topic posts are a result of people looking for an opinion on things from people they trust and respect. I know if I have a non-tractor related question I still post it here, because I trust and respect the opinions and experience of many people on here.

Each tractor brand pretty much has it's own forum, so this one is left for everything in life that leads us to tractors - gotta have a pickup to haul parts and tractor to shows, gotta cure whatever ailment we have before we can go to the tractor show or farming, etc.

All in all, I think this is one of the BEST websites out there for tractors and other topics. Kudos to those who run the site.

in-too-deep said: (quoted from post at 16:56:12 12/07/07) The way I see it, this is more of a general tractor-related forum. Kind of like coffee shops and diners. Do folks at coffee shops sit around and only talk about coffee? Nope. It's more a social interaction time. On top of that, the posts on here very closely related to tractors, and like-minded people hang out because a lot of us have the same problems whether it's on a tractor or not. I'd say we're doing just fine...could be talking about our shiny SUV's and Blackberry's and our suburban homes and how our kids love their new foreign piano instructor and how the immigrant that mows our lawn gets paid too much...but no. This place is a fine example of good 'ole camaraderie. Let it be. : )

I had to switch over to modern just so I could ditto that. Kim and Chris run a fine ship and nee to be applauded more.

Well, ya can't "discuss" anything in the OT forum because of all the swearing, yelling and name calling. So I post stuff here. Seems to work OK.

I find this a great forum for tractor or farm related topics in general. If I have a specific question for a Case, Allis or John Deere, I then go to the tractor forum for that brand. It's kind of like this. When I'm just hanging out and listening to others visit about tractors, farming, community, relationships, politcs, religion, health or whatever, I want to hang out here with others of the same background as myself. I want to hear opinions, advice, humor, concerns and general bs from others who have hoed the same row as myself at one time or another. Tractor Talk seems to be the best forum for that. I'm sure not going to hang out with the women or the hot headed politics only minded lot or any of the other specific forums. For whatever reason Tractor Talk seems to be the coffee shop of Yesterdays Tractors and I enjoy the variety of subjects and the civility of people who post on here. But don't get me wrong. I do check in here for tractor advise first and bs second.

I think its just winter and most tractors are put away till spring so the talk tends to wander a bit but I like this forum its polite and you can tell a joke without getting killed and disagree with someone without getting kicked off (Like ATTIS is) BUMMER

I personaly read for the most part the posts that have a real subjectin the subject line. Seldom the ones regarding a thought, burp, or a random act of thinking. This board is pretty good overall, seldom any personal insults or rude remarks. Overall we treat each other with respect, and share a lot of good thoughts.

I personaly think the one board with the " vote for me" kind of reflects litle more than folks with perhaps to much time on their hands. But therefore if I do not like it, I can avoid it, so that works out pretty good anyway.

I would like to see a board / fourm titled Saftey first, and another WHATS IT WORTH---

The political board makes as much sence to me as conversations years gone buy in the local slop house. If you don't agree with my opinion, I'll make a real smart A$$ remark infront of our friends to make me look real smart. By the way beer always made me smarter! --after I drank a few all you would have to do was simply ask me, And then I could tell you all night how smart I was.

Other than better headlines on the posts, I can find little falt with this board, all a pretty good bunch, probably we seldom visit the country club and drink from a stem glass, but rather will sit on a five gallon bucket an visit for hours with a non name brand pop in our greasy hands.

I therefore would personaly like to congradulate the best of the best---this bunch. NE IA Dave

I have been reading this site on and off about 2 years and have never posted, but thought I'd get in here. I enjoy reading all these post, tractor or not. It just seems like a nice bunch of country folks like myself that happen to have a common interest in tractors. It's nice to sometimes to discuss other topics that we all deal with with a group of your peers.I'm with the most of you guys, leave it the way it is.

Long time lurker (1998?). I vote for leaving it as-is. There are enough other catagories specified, that ennyone with a specific tractor interest could prolly find somm'eres ta look, right here on YT. I think "General Tractor (people) Posts" describes the intent of the originators. Blow me away fer thinkin' that, but don't quit postin'; because to others perhaps; EVERYTHING is off topic, but still could be interesting..
PS: Gunna send off a donation ta YT mag, tomorrow when i do my bills, and.. got a part can't find locally, may just order it here. I check in almost daily...

Hey Geo I come here because of the title of the forum(I like it)and there is a lot of traffic here.I would like to post truck topics more on the truck forum but there aren't near as many responses in near the time either.Country talk seems to be a club as well as Talers too and I really don't mean that in a dissrespectful way either but if you don't follow regularly its hard to keep up.Here one can start a topic from fresh or have a continuance of another. When it comes to pulling I leave it to the pulling board and Oliver tractors I go to Oliver board but for all round opinions from a wide variety of people I like this one.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this particular board which makes it inticing to post about anything, and get the right answers from some one. It would be nice to have a "hitching post" we could post more off topic stuff without having to resort to the vile "politics and off topic" board. Just gets ridiculusly childish over there. I once, quite a while back complained about the "off topics", but have since discovered they add the the diversity and comradery on here.

Agree with the General forum or Misc forum or a Everyday problems forum..... ..... ..... .....
But..... one only has to read what is in ones choice to read. Unless a new forum is added, it is still going to happen. Let's try to keep with the tractors.

I don't usually read any of the truck topics, but folks with tractor questions are moved on down the list by all of these off topics, and their questions may go unanswered simply because they are 2 or 3 pages back by the time someone with the answer gets on here.

George--I have been visiting this site for about 3 years now. My observation is that this "Tractor Talk" forum has been used by Guy/Gal Tractor Owners to discuss pretty much everything including tractor specific items.

I have not found an "Off Topic" forum here. Maybe the administrators could add one for anything not tractor related.

If I have a tractor specific question, I usually go to the Ford or N Tractor forums. Of course, right now, I only own Fords.

Other sites that I visit have specific "Off Topic" Forums. Administrators?

Tim

Skipped the cornflakes this morning and had bacon and eggs. I would have been upset if someone had pee'd on my bacon.

Since you mentioned coffee. Did you hear that Starbucks coffee is not sending any more coffee to the troops, because they don't support the war. Why punish the troops for something they didn't start. No more starbucks for me, becides McDonalds senior coffee is better, and don't cost as much Stan

Seems like every so often someone says "where did the tractors go". Just like once every other month someone says they have or seen a SHTADV farmall.
