A little off the normal subject for this site but does anyone care to post thier opinion on the RFD TV network signing a 5 year contract with Imus. This man was kicked off all the other networks about a year ago for his racial comments made about a college girls basketball team. How does his subject matter pertain to country living or farming? I feel RFD is gradually going the way of our TSC stores and others catering to the city folk and yuppies. Thanks for letting me vent. Rich

I watched/listened to Imus a few times. LONG before his "Nappy" comment, I switched him off. He's in the same catagory with Howard Stern - both need to be "uninvented". RFDTv has been on the down slide for awhile, this just takes them closer to the edge.....

Finding out that IMUS would be on RFD-TV made my day.I watched him this morning and plan to be a regular viewer.I was a fan up to and including that day in April when he metioned the girls basketball team. His release from his former job was a railroading fueled by a our 24/7 cable news world and some unofficial spokesmen looking for the spotlight. He and his wife do good work, wish there were more like them !!!

I'm not an Imus fan and wouldn't watch his show if sombody gave me a dollar. But, RFD either keeps its head above water or its gone. Imus has lots of fans, but don't know if he has enough to help RFDTV or not. Imus can drag in the cash when confronted with a needy cause, and I expect RFD TV knows that.

FIVE YEARS?? God almighty,I was hoping it was a few month thing. Imus is gonna flush that network right down the toilet!! I hated that jerk when he was on MSNBC or whatever it was and now he's gonna ruin RFD. I used to like to watch Michigan Magazine,Virginia Farming and Oklahome Horizon in the mornings before I went out to do chores. Hoped that pig would be off RFD in a month or so and things would be back to normal. THIS MAKES ME SICK!!

When put into context - I don't think Imus said anything particularly racial - just stupid, not particularly funny, and somewhat demeaning to the girls on that team. Either way, I don't care - nobody has to listen to him.

I don't see too many people mentioning all the millions of dollars he's raised and/or donated over the years to charity - a heck of a lot more than I ever have.

When I was a little younger - Imus was on the radio every morning - late 60s, early 70s. I always had a hang-over along with 2 hours of sleep and didn't find him particularly amusing - but hey, it was AM radio. It was him - or - WINS all-news radio. Later in the day, Wolfman Jack from the West Coast came on in FM and he was a little more entertaining.

In regard to RFD - I enjoy some stuff on it - and some I don't. But - my wife showed me a neat little trick - in involves changing the channel or turning the TV off when I don't like something.

Torally agree with the "if you don't like it don't watch it" crowd. i mean really whats a remote for. Plus for all the bad mouthers why don't you band together and fork over enough cash to make your whining worthwhile!!! Then maybe they wouldn't have signed him to begin with. Let me ash you all something else. You start reading the forums and maybe YT is headed the way of TSC also. It seems to be turning to people baiting people to see what kind of mud can be stirred. I've asked for technical advice and get little answers or none but boy put on some dirt and watch the pages fly! JMHO

Imus is no worse than Roger Welsch.

Welsch was supposedly the entertainment at a Nebraska Auto Dealer's Association meeting once. He was crude, obnoxious, and told some off-color jokes that clearly made the ladies in the audience uncomfortable.

There's a saying that you never get a second chance to make a good first impression, and his first impression at that meeting was in the bottom of the barrel along with what he considered humor.

First off on your message, if anyone don't wanna watch the dude then don't. People who want to watch him will those that don't won't.
On your statement about TSC catering to the city wanna be's. You may just be right there, seems like everytime you go in there you can't find what you need or you see so many city people in their flip flops you can't get anything. We need to group together and let our voices be heard that we are really whats keeping this country going, its agriculture! Without it, we die! Gonna be kinda hard to eat a laptop when your hungry.

Let's see now, what does RFD TV have to offer? There is horse shows, horse shows, more horse shows and let's not forget the 10-20 year old re-run tractor shows and now Imus. Oh RFD will be the first pick on my remote, don't think so !!!!! Another three letters that go along with RFD and TSC is SUX.

It is just RFD trying to raise it's viewership, plain and simple. It is all about the ratings, better ratings equals more revenue. He wears a cowboy hat, but he is citified as anybody.

When Imus was on MSNBC, he was their most watched, highest rated program. RFD is just using him to draw people to the channel.

Remember when TNN had some good, country themed shows on it? Now it's called Spike and it sucks. Remember when OLN had some hunting/fishing shows on it? Now it has NHL hockey. RFD will go the same way because they want higher ratings and us "rural" folks don't watch enough TV to suit them. Kinda sad, but there it is :(

I will stoned after saying this. But....He said his sorrys to the girls B-ball team. Get over it, it is just words. The real issue is that alot of minorities are looking for someone to say the "wrong" statement so that they can sue somebody and get a settlement..Right. It isnt about the wrong words or comments its about lawyers and money. Sad but True. There now throw yer stones.

How many of the on the air mistakes are just publicity stunts anyway?
Remember the Dick Armey and the Barney the . . . remark? And Michael Richard's comedy routine and my all time favorite; Eric Sevareid and the election night, supposedly off camera, explaining his view of one candidate.
Sometimes I wonder what is true and . . . .

YOur comment about RFD going the same route as the TSC stores is probably correct. RFD was quoted as saying they had hopes of adding an additional 15-20 million viewers with the addition of Imus. They thought he would bring their total to 50 million viewers.
As far as Imus is concerned..... ...he said his apologies to the women's basketball team. I think he meant them. We have to give him a chance now to prove he meant them. With that said, I personally don't care for his dialogue.

Have you or anyone in your families ever done anything that you or they were ashamed of or sorry for.

Don't really care, but had a black man said nappy headed ho's nothing would have ever been said about it. Everyone likes to play by 2 or 3 sets of rules. When the rule no longer suits you just change it, that is what the Gov't does.

There is only one show currently being aired on RFD-TV that is worth watching. It airs on Saturday evenings between 6 and 7 pm central time, and beleive it or not, RFD-TV has even messed that one up a time or two.

Guy grew up on a cattle ranch in Arizona. Runs a camp there for handicapped and medically fragile kids. I guess you could consider him a "cowboy," but he's more sizzle than steak. Nearly got killed a couple of years ago when he got thrown from a horse. I'm unsure why he got picked up by RFD TV. Maybe it's the only tv network that would touch him.
