Bought a Ford 3000 with a loader only to find out tonight from the model # that it is a 2000. Curiously, the hood has 3000 decals and yet the Identification Plate under the hood matches all the numbers on the tractor itself. I guess someone either put a different hood on it and moved the ID Plate or different Decals. I probably paid too much for my 3000...oops I mean 2000.

I bought a 2000 identified by hood decal only.No serial tag. I thought maybe it's a 3000 'cause that 3 cyl gas has lot's of power!

The ID numbers are STAMPED into the bell housing on a flat pad aproximatly over the starter nose cone. There will be three lines of information. With these you can fully identify your machine.

You can tell which engine it has by checking the engine serial number. There is a horizontal machined pad on the bottom rail of the block, right side (starter side), just above the oil pan, with a serial no. stamped in. There you should see a letter followed by numbers: the letter B=2000 series, C=3000, D=4000.
