My wife has been sick on and off for the last two years. First thing was an apendectomy, then a leaking brain anyeurism (spelling)that almost killed her (11 days in neurological ICU w/brain surgery and a long recovery and then a problem with some disks and nerves in her back. All that said to say that she has been on serious pain medication for about two years straight. The medical issues have cleared up, but now she is addicted to the pain medication (Lortab to be specific). I took her to Nashville TN to fly to Jacksonville FL for rehab last night. It is a 4-6 week program. This medication does not discriminate it is just as addictive as street drugs. My wife is a nurse and according to the staff at the facility she is at alot of their clients are medical professionals. If you guys would pray for a successful recovery my family and I would be grateful. I post on several boards, but this one has by far the best group of people I have came into with. Thanks and God bless.

Talked to the LORD on your behalf. Believe and receive. All things work together for good to those who are called according to his purpose. Fud, pray at her bedside out loud!

Along with spiritual intervention, Personal touch and hugs are very good therapy (for both). make the tender gesture of closeness a part of the program. JimN

Prayer on the way. Remember to take care of yourself also. Sometimes the caregiver neglects themsleves and get down. Try to get some rest and dont skip meals.

Bullet Prayer said and remember God is in Control. I too am still taking Lortab after 2 years. Back surgeries with no results and pain causes your pain tolerance to lower. I reread your post and felt your pain. The rehab will help tremendously but I think I know how you feel inside. Remember to pray for your strength to be strong for your wife as well. All of us see you as a brother in need so stay in touch. Good Luck and God Bless. Wilson

Done deal Fud.

I'm a pastor and can tell you she will probably make it clean in short order. Half the battle is attitude and she never "abused" anything nor took these meds for thrill or entertainment. The rehab unit will take her through the steps and help her through the cycles. She will do just fine.

Let her know we're praying for her and if it's all right, I'll add her to our church prayer list tonight.

I've been there, Oxycontin.

But here is what kept me going. I kept reminding myself that I was in rehab, not the morgue. Addictions can be fixed. Death from what caused the addiction can't. I considered it merely a side effect of something that nearly killed me.

You are on the downhill side of a bad situation. Be thankful that you can still talk to her everyday and you will have her back and healthy in a few weeks.

Prayers for a promising future.

Me too, Just prayed for her and you and will add her to my list. I have always heard it said that the Lord will not give you a burden that is too heavy too bear. Sometimes I wish he didn't trust me so much. Trust in the Lord, Chris

It is quite something to be in pain. But I do know that through prayer and other doctors actions, the Lord will be with you.

God save us all, amen.

Our church has someone in the Chapel 24/7 and my hour is Thursday night at 10:00 p.m. I will include her in my prayers. Prayer is very powerful. I've had several kinds of cancer for 14 years now and God keeps me going - I'm not sure why but I'll remember her.

I sure will . I"m also on some strong pain killer (morphine) . I worry about what if the doctor says no more perscriptions . The Lord can heal her thru you & hers faith . I do hope she knows Jesus as her Saviour ; if not now"s a good time for her to turn her heart over to Him . Keep us informed please . God bless, Ken
