I have a International B414 w/ bucket loader and also have an old 3-point backhoe that needs to be hooked up to the tractor hydraulics. Can someone please give be some advice on how the two backhoe lines need to be hooked up to the existing tractor hydraulics

Thanks

I'm looking at a B414. I want to put a loader on this tractor, but there are no aux valves on this tractor. I haven't been able to find anything about the hydraulics on a B414.

You'ld probably want a 10 to 15 GPM hydraulic flow. You don't want to have the engine running full throttle all the time to get enough speed. You can slow it down and still have good response. When you get more experienced on the backhoe, you will get very frustrated at how slow it is if you don't have enough flow. As I said above, with a faster pump you can always slow the engine down. The trick to running a backhoe smoothly and efficiently is to use at least 2 functions at the same time. I.E./ rolling your bucket up while you lift the boom out of the hole. If you only had 5 GPM split between 2 functions would be painfully slow. Most hoes have cushion valves or rubber blocks for the final part of swing travel. Once you get used to the hoe, you'll know when the cylinders are close to the end of their stroke. Dave

I thought of that, but at the price of PTO pumps I'd like to uses what the tractor already has.

Tractor hydraulics are going to be so slow you'll have to drive stakes to see if it's moving. Backhoes need probably 25-30 GPM to operate properly- your B414 will supply about 5. Unless you're under 30 years old, don't start any projects.

My Long 1099 3 point back would be bouncing off the cylinder end stops if I pushed it with 25 GPM. Its better with about 5 GPM. 2" swing cylinders move plenty fast with 5 GPM.

The loader valve needs to be adapted with a power beyond port that feeds the back hoe and the return from the back hoe valve goes to a T in the return line that was already on the loader valve. The back hoe valve has to be open or closed center the same as the loader and tractor. Some valves have all these capabilities, some don't.

Thank-you very much, I found some drawings for this and tomorrow I'll check my valve to see if I have one of these ports blocked which I can use.
