I'm going to be out in the woods throwing lead at any deer that gets in the way. My stepson got his first today. A small doe and I got a large doe tonight. I need to get at least 4 or 5 deer to make it till this time next year. And with gas prices like they are I sure can use the meat BIT time. And hay any of you other guys that hunt BRAKE a leg on your hunt. Sorry I will never wish you luck because thats bad luck. LOL

Here in Pa., we already had our early Bow season and the early muzzleloader seasons. My family has taken 5 doe and no bucks yet. We have a total of 10 doe tags and 4 buck tags. Here in Pa. , some areas are really shot out, but in other areas there are still a ton of deer. When they set things up into Pa. areas, guys who hunt around there camps grabbed a bunch of doe tags and shot the heck out of the local populations of deer and now they are complaining about a lack of deer. It is hard to be sympathetic when they caused the problem. Years ago hunting clubs used to have an annual doe license burning ceremony and that is happening again. The game commission won't back off on license numbers. They are always broke. I wish I could run my home finances that way.

Where do you live where you can willy nilly just shoot anything that you want and up to 5 deer in a season.

My oldest boy got a 6 point with the bow a month ago. Nephew got a spike this morning. Son had another 6 come under him this morning but spooked before he got his bow drawn. He's determined to get another one with the bow before gun season starts the 15th.

Our season opened Saturday morning. I had to work Friday and Saturday night so I did not get to go for real. Did take a longer gun than normal when I went to check cows and fences Saturday morning. Missed a "Texas heart" shot on a slick head while I was ride'n round. If you lived closer to me old I would fill your tank up to come up here for a few days and haul off a few slick heads for me. Every one round here wants to shoot a half grown 8 point basket rack and dive it round in thier truck till the hair falls off show'n it off. I think you should have to take 4 does before you can take a buck. Kill'm all Old!

In Missouri you get one buck/any deer tag now days and unlimited doe tags. There are a few countys that, that does not apply to but I'm in one that I can shoot one today and go buy another tag and just keep going. I shot a 4 point buck this morning but it ran off and we couldn't find him, had a good blood trail till it started raining and then we lost it. Looked for about an hour and didn't find him

If we could shoot does, I could get several any day without ever stepping off the porch.

Unfortunately our local game rules only allow taking larger bucks. I don't even think spike bucks are legal anymore. So we have many, many deer around here. I can't plant anything without the ----- - eating it. They are real pests, and not afraid of people much at all. I see dead deer along the roads almost every day, and every dead deer probably means a vehicle with a wrecked front end.

Something needs to be done. The deer population is probably at least 10 times larger around here than it was when I was a kid. Gardening is out of the question without a very high fence, and undoubtedly the deer are taking a bunch of the farmers crops too.

Be very afraid when the government comes and says they are there to "help you"! The fish and game people have about as much brains as a bucket of rocks.

Good luck with your hunting.

Same problem here- we've got some pasture up a rural valley, and I can't remember driving up there without seeing deer. I also can't remember the last time I saw a buck. They used to have a "doe day" when I was a kid, but I think the problem was that everybody waited 'til that day, and shot at anything that moved, so it was chaos in the woods. Seems like they could figure out something, though- entirely too many deer around now.

We have the same problem. In Michigan, the state rules focus on bucks. But there might be 20 does for every buck. Also tradition makes a lot of hunters pass on does. But anything with horns gets shot. I pretty much have given up on deer hunting. Between TB in the deer, "brain wasting disease" ( deer's version of mad cow), and the time and trouble, it just isn't fun. Plus most of my hunting buddies have quit too.

I had crop damage and the conservation agent gave me a damage control permit to shoot 20 deer any way I could. Spot light them at night, out of season, any way to kill them. I got 9 that way.

Neighbor took a shot at a handsome buck yesterday. Problem was it was one of those animated dummies that the wardens set up. Problem for the warden was that my neighbor's shot was a perfectly legal one and, of course, he "never gave a tought" to the possibility that it was a dummy.

What in the world would planting a fake buck accomplish? Catching someone shooting a buck in anter-less only zone? That's just incredibly ignorant. I'd like to meet the legislators or whoever made up that idea AND and the warden who upholds it. Ugh.

They generally set them up about 50 yards from a roadway, and nab the "road hunters" that shoot out of their vehicles. If you get out and shoot it, your OK.

Had a good hunt today even though we didn't see any deer. The wife , myself, the new owner of my Uncle's farm and my 87 year old uncle were out today. Great weather and it was good to see the old coot didn't go home empty handed. He at least bagged a bird.

Beware of those green and yellow deer. Easy to hit but boy are they tough to eat.
