Walt, you hit the nail on the head. This one is a Oklahoma Centennial Special edition (100 made) commerating 100 years of statehood (#14 of 100). Comes with a very nice cherry wood presentation case. Retail - $1795.00 - S/H included. Highly engraved with supurb scrimshaw work on the handles. Very pretty gun. Thanks! Bob F.

Ruger are great guns and they are about the cheapest too. If there is one for 1600 it has to be something rare or special I got a special edition vaquero with 2 cylinders for different cartridges and it was 450. ps if you can find someplace other than cabelas if you can becauase they are the highest price around in our area.

Nothing wrong with a good old Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk either. Can shoot .44 specials or magnums out of a Super.Redhawk is a good double action too,but more cash outlay.I've got one with a 5 1/2" barrel I wouldn't trade for a million bucks, and now they make one in 4".

Hi Bob,

Ruger built two different Vaquero revolvers. The earlier, while still a New Model transfer bar revolver, was built on the same size frame as the Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk revolvers. They were suitable for +P type reloads and specialty factory rounds. The newer Vaqueros are closer in size to the P Frame Colt Single Action Army and are more suitable for standard .45 Colt pressure loads. Also many of the older .45 Colt Rugers had undersized chamber throats that caused leading and accuracy problems. Prices for a new Vaquero usually run from a high of 5-600 to lows of 350-400. The fixed sights of a Vaquero can be challenging, both from a point of aim-point of impact issue and also from the less than optimum, esp. for older eyes, sight picture. I have both an older Vaquero and a New Model Blachawk in .45 Colt. Both have 4 5/8" barrels. I reamed the throats on both pistols, installed free spin pauls and spiffed up the triggers. Both shoot roughly the same sized groups from a bench rest but in the field I do by far the best work with the Blackhawk. If you want to read up on them a bit go to

Can't go wrong with a Ruger they make some of the finest guns around. But cost a small fortune. you are looking at $1600 I would seriously be looking at something cheaper to carry around on a tractor. Walt

Walt, I think your about 1100 dollars off on the price of that pistol. I would think 500 would proably be in the ball park. Denny

Do the world a favor, buy it and mail it to me for disposal- I will rid the world of all those wonderful, beautiful, slick shooting pistols :-)

IMHO a great little single action, same old Ruger quality.
