It took us all quite a few years, but all tractor questions have been answered here. Were shutting the board down. It was real fun while it lasted.

Just edit out the " O/T's" and all will be well. Seems you have to go through three pages of " O/T's" just to see a "tractor" question. Gets so old that I usually skip this board altogether.

Watch out for that nose, it is growing (already up to 5 or 6 ft).

I do have to agree that a lot of the questions aren't new, but I can say that I do try to search for answers and the results aren't very user friendly to say the least. A few changes might make it be easier for people to find the stuff they are looking for.

Just my $.02.

Don't bet on it. I'm still waiting for an answer to my question on why the bezel shaft is torquing the meatly flange on my Prairie Dominator 2000. Posted the question in 1958, and I think I've been pretty patient so far. Let's all put our minds to that one, before we wind things up. . .

That is impossible based on one tractor alone! The ETD. Need I say more? Well, I can't because THEY will come and find me.

Almost no one born since about 1950 ever heard of the Essex Tri-Directional. It was light years ahead of its time and if not for poor decisons by management, it would be THE tractor even today. The Bi-D was of course the first model and all were supposedly recalled and destroyed. Many folks know someone who knows someone, etc., who have one, but the consensus is that they're all gone. My wife's oldest brother worked (in Research & Development) on the Quad-D during the late 50s. He always insisted that the concept was flawed and that the tractor would never work..... ..... and so it turned out. He said that "they" were determined to compete with John Deere's new 4 and 6 cylinders, instedad of concentrating on their core market. Managements decision to dump millions of 1950s dollars into the project doomed the company. What was left of the company was bought by Hewlett-Packard and the R & D department developed H-Ps first computers in the early 70s. Knowing how the Tri-D worked, it was a perfect fit. You'll almost never see a Tri-D on a dealer's lot, but there are many rusting away in fence rows/old barns. What's so sad is that most of the parts to get them going can be purchased at any decent automotive supply house.

Ditto.. besides.. ya don't need new questions.. people keep askin' the old ones over and over and over instead of taking 4 seconds and searching.

I find it interesting to see people ask about.. say.. a wire diagram.. and yet.. there might be 2-3 other topics of the same.. ON THE SAME PAGE.. IE.. no search needed.. just 'look down'...

The JD will go faster than the IH if you race in reverse. You can cheat a bit with the Deere by wiggling the Syncro shifter into 3rd reverse. Dont ask me how we found this out.
