Are you required to change the speedometer/odometer to metric? I looked into buying a car in Canada and bringing it into the US and that was a requirement, metric to miles. Apperantly we are too stupid to use the miles scale instead of the metric scale when driving in the States. Canadians can come over with their cars and are smart enough to figure it out (some for years). I figured it was just a legal roadblock to discourage cross border car dealing.

Most cars have both scales on the speedo. It's easy to confuse miles with kilometers in an unfamiliar vehicle, though, and that could lead to a speeding ticket.

The American Tacoma even had English/French captions on airbag instructions, though I had to install daytime running lights.
