It seems my previous handle has been reserved by another. So now I"ll be using the first two names given to me by the chief to heap my cynicism and sarcasm on my fellow cyber friends. Regards, TDF

To: Henrye/n.c.: for heavens sake, Henry, don't sit around too much--you'll get stiff and old way too soon! I retired from auto body work, at age of 72. Would have stayed longer, but the new paints affected my breathing, so i got out! After sitting around, twiddling my thumbs for 3 months, i started fixing lawn mowers and tractors. At first, i fixed ones that folks discarded, but then i got into fixing stuff for friends. Brings in beer money, and pays for gasoline for my own stuff, including my old pickup. And it keeps me active, and out of my wife's way. Keeps me from setting around the house! I'm only 83 YOA, and have no intention of doing anything less as long as i last!

The same thing happened to me. I had used the handle Hal/WA for 7 or 8 years, but a couple of months ago, the system started asking me for a password to use that handle, which I didn't have. I guess I was just not paying attention when the idea of registering handles came up, and I never did register mine.

I have emailed about someone else registering my old handle, but never received a reply from the powers that be. On the other hand, I have not seen my old handle being used by anyone else. I don't know why someone else would have registered my handle--maybe just being ornery!

It is an annoyance though. And I wish I had heard back from the site managers when I reported the problem. OH WELL!

I've been here since '98? and have been through so many handles that I don't know who I am anymore. Seems that every time the computer would crash or added new components I couldn't get back in, then about the time Kim wanted us to reserve our handles WildBill grabbed mine and vanished. Please keep up the cynicism and sarcasm, there's a few big targets here. Why would you ask, TDF!!!!

As far as the retirement goes, you can make it the beginning of the end if you want to, it's your choice. Personnally I haven't had the time, been too busy with my little farm, helping others with projects, and a little travelling to find out or worry about it. However, I'm not totally retired yet, and may never be at this rate. I still work a couple of days a week designing and building special machines. There's so much new out there to learn that it's totally fascinating to me. I do plan to slow down some more next summer because I'm not getting enough of my own projects done. Best of luck with it.

I"d rather not say unless I see it being misused. A fresh start(in life)would be nice. I"m an old geezer who"ll be retiring in a couple of weeks. So would that be the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end? I think the latter. Regards, TDF

Two Dogs: If you thought so highly of the name, should have reserved it yourself. Kind of like the farmer complaining about the cows getting out, after he left the gate open. Personally I've always thought the one given folks at birth wasn't too bad.

I didn"t think so highly of the name or I would have reserved it. Kind of like my face. Who else would want it? It wasn"t meant as a complaint, just a statement. We"re given the option of posting without giving our real names. I prefer that option. Thanks for your comments. TDF

retirement is what you make of it. Ive been retired for 15 years and up to now have been too busy to think about quiting. Im 76 now and this year I have slowed down quite a bit, sleep iin later and participate in less activities. Hate long nite drives and staying out late. Time seems to wear on as you get older. I think a lot of it is how you view yourself and your physical well being. I used to be a very strong physical person and now 20 lbs seems heavy. Any how, I have enjjoyed retirement and wish I could have started 10 years earlier.
