I'll admit, I don't follow the news nearly enough. I 'm not usually home when news is on, and all the radio has is who got arrested. What's the progress on the wildfires?

Winds were not that bad the first day, that stuff was grounded waiting for spotters to get there. CalFire's deal to ensure triple time for some higher ups.

Supposedly some boy under 13 years admitted to starting a fire whist playing with matcheds in his backyard in Agua Dulca (sp?). Authorities are linking this to the blaze and say his parents will be held responsible for damages.

Mostly contained in San Diego County. Don't know about Orange Co. Somewhere around 500K acres burned, 2000 homes lost (or more) and some loss of life, about 14 last I heard. CalFire, the agency in charge is having to answer some hard questions about their failure to engage military equipment that was prepped and ready to go, in a timely manner. According to some reports there were 12 helos and 5 C130s on the ground when they could have been flying.

This equipment was reported to be available when contract and National Guard aircraft were airborne but was "not approved" by CalFire to fly.
