I will take a stab at it.
About 15 years ago my Dad sold a restored one on auction for $1200 Today I would think $2000 would be top dollar. Of course rare options or Trackson conversion will be alot higher. I wont run the Fordson down cause it was indeed a small tractor that a small farmer could use and was priced to sell to them for the time period. But I have seen a few pictures of the Fordson flipped over backwards on the driver. I am guessing steel wheels, short wheel based, and light weight was the reason for this.

Grand-dad had an old Fordson sitting in his barn when i was a kid! It had set so long that it had sunk into the dirt, up to the hubs! Us kids played "farmer" on it every summer. The man who bought the place said it had gone before he bought. Thought it had been dropped on Europe during WW II!

Fordson 27n- basic model T engine in tractor. production stopped here in US about 1930- supposedly needed factory space for model A car. British continued production in 30s, some came back to US and Canada then. Splash lube engine, critical to check oil level. Ignition sometimes criticised. RN

Early Ford tractor named for Henry and his son Edsel. Mostly made in the twenties and early 30 before the 2N came out.
Walt Under here someplace is and early Fordson that my Granpa owned. Never ran while I was alive though.third party image

The Fordsons became boat anchors before most of their contemporaries, for two reasons- first, the engine was tempramental to start generally, and had to be kept in a state of tune that was beyond most farmers; and second, you couldn't tow them to start, because they had a worm drive instead of the conventional ring and pinion rear end. Everybody (myself included) remembers an old Fordson that we played on as kids, but nobody can remember one that ever ran. My dad once said "If it weren't for all the dead Fordsons that got melted for the war effort, we'd all be speaking German today."

OH here is a better picture of Grampa's tractor and Uncle William B. Kennedy. Must be sometime in the 30's. Uncle bill was in the Merchant marines during the Big War had 3 ships sunk out from under him and at one time had to swim 7 miles to an Island. Said after the war I should have went in the Navy like my brothers did. Walt third party image

When I was a kid,we had a chance to buy one for $20. Dad said all it would be good for is a mail box post. Walt Beuscher was blockman for Allis in northern Ohio and eastern Michigan. He said everybody who ever tryed to trade one in claimed theirs was the only one in the world that didn't loose water. Don't know about us speaking German if it wasn't for them being melted down. I'd always heard they were melted down and sent to Japan BEFORE the war.

I can't help but pass this on. At the old Threshers in Mount Pleasant Ia., they have a Fordson that has been cut in half lengthwise, so you can see the inner workings. An old boy who looked old enough to have been around when they were new, stood there looking at it for a while, and finally said "Thats the best use I've ever seen one of them sons of bitches put to." Sorry I can't help with a value.

That's funny! An older friend of mine made a similarly disparaging comment about "couldn't see why anyone would want an old R John Deere...".

He had put way too many hours in on one to view them as "fun" anymore...
