hey when i drained the oil in my A befor i stripped everything down a lttle green cam out with it. is this a major problem like a cracked block or just some busted O-rings??

by the way i got it to turn nice today (head off pb blaster) it would turn w/ the hand crank but i rigged it to turn back and it did somwhat nice. cleaned up the sleeves and pistons turns smooth

is it worth 150$$ to have a valve job done (cleaning of head, re bevel/grind valves etc)

John Deeres were famous for the push rod sleeves pinholing and letting a/f into the oil.

Always try the least expensive things first, but antifreeze in the crankcase is probably a head gasket. Of course, when you pull the head you'll want to check it to see if its warped (a true carpenter's square will tell you). Look for any cracks or better yet, invest in a little Magna Flux which you paint on the head. When it dries it will highlight any cracks. Pretty cool stuff.

Look the block over too although that would be the least likely cause of the problem.

Good luck.

Hi Kent,

Magna flux works with eddy currents to highlite the surface cracks.

Dye penterant works by spraying on a development powder over a etching compound thus highliting the surface cracks.

The maximum that either the above NDT process shows is 1/16" below the surface. If deeper cracks are suspected then only x-ray or ultrasonic NDT is available for a full thickness view on NDT's.

NDT= non destructive testing

This is of course if they don't have a new testing process that I'm not aware of.
