We are putting together the 3rd annual open house for our local historical society. This will be late July or early August of 08. It's a one day event. I'm looking for ideas from you folks on what are things you've seen at other shows that you enjoyed. We are having threshing and probably plowing and we will do a 3rd annual tractor and machinery show with a short tractor ride into the neighboring town. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. This is in eastern Iowa and I'm also looking for people that may be interested in bringing in something antique to demonstrate. Let me know what you all have to say.

One thing that the kids love is seeing and using old kitchen tools. At the 150th celebration of the 1st wagon train to Oregon they brought out a whole bunch of hand operated tools and let the kids have fun grinding things and making butter and just about everything that we did as kids that was everyday work for us. Get some old meat grinder with the Flour option and let them make flour then make and then churn some butter then make Indian fry bread from the results they love it. Walt

Might try "tractor softball". we used to do that at Ionia, MI and it was a blast. Best to use one of your not-so-nice tractors to avoid dents from miscues, biut lots of fun.

My Dad and I like to see stock antique tractor pulls, and lawn tractor pulls. Greg
