Foamy tranny oil

Last year I changed the tranny oil (80-90) in my 550 Cockshutt and this week it is starting to growl in 6th gear. I checked the oil and its overfull with foamy oil. The foam is light brown while the rest is dark, so I'm thinking that water has mananged to seep in through the tranny top plate. Is this oil toast and I should drain and refill? Could it be hydraulic oil seeping into the tranny? Any ideas?
Thanks

You got water in it. Now you need to change it all then find where it got in or keep it covered during rain storms. Or you could let it stand all winter and then drain the water off the bottom. I'd change it myself. Also look at the bearings on the gear that is grinding. Walt

We sometimes got water in the transmissions and/or final drives in mining equipment and when that happened we ran the machine non stop to heat it up enough to make the water evaporate off and dry out the bearings and gears. Had to keep checking oil at about 4-6 hour intervals till dried out. The watery foam starts rusting of bearing races which in turn causes pitting and things just get worse from there on.
