I am getting closer to starting my rebuilt 47-B and had a question on what oil to use? thanks

If it is truely a rebuilt engine , I would use straight 20 wt with a bottle of GM.'s zinc containing break-in lube added. Spin the engine without the plugs in it long enough for the pump to get oil to all the bearings and make sure there aren't any bad noises before you actually fire it up. Drain this out after 10 to 20 hrs. of use and then use whatever type and wt. is best for your intended use of the tractor.

I have always used 30wt non-detergent to break in old engines that I have rebuilt. After 10-15 hours, I change oil and filter and use whatever happens to be in the OPEC shed(where I store gas, oils, diesel fuel.....you get the idea). Right now I happen to have a 55gal drum of Rotella 15-40, so that is what I'm using.
