I use "Rust Eraser" made by Zep.Makes 'em look like new.

I use it on tractor and classic car guys carbs I go through. Non acidic and pretty cheap for a gallon.Have to have a local dealer to get the stuff. ~brad

They probably glass bead them. Alot of people on the forum don't beleive in doing it. I've been glass beading carbs for years and years and have NEVER had any problems with clogged passages from media. Just my 2. Doug N

Jim Lincoln is an old school carberator mechanic who can take a rusty/crusty piece of junk and turn it into a like new carberator.

He always uses glass bead first, then completely strips them down and uses factory coatings to seal and preserve the base metal. They come back looking amazing and I've never heard of any problems.

Wish I had a glass bead cabinet.

Aloha, They used to soak it in a 5 gallon pail of gunk but I don"t know if they still use it (EPA). Check out the auto parts (NAPA) and they may still sell it.

I always use a wire wheel on my bench grinder to get them to shine. I first soak them in acetone for a day or two. Then wire wheel them clean. It makes them look brand new.

Did you soak it in a gallon can of carb cleaner? The sell them at the auto parts store. Comes with a little basket. Takes off everything.

What do they make to take the smell of that stuff off Dave? All you have to do is open the can and you stink for two weeks!

It sure has an odor about it. I came in one night after putting a carb in the bucket and my wife swore that it smelled just like her insulin. I didn't believe her, but she got out a vial and sure enough it did. Go figure.

Maybe you can just shoot her up with that stuff. Save money by buying it by the gallon. :)

Probably because of the carb cleaning solution and the agitation system they use to clean it.
