The Paint And Bodywork forum seems pretty dead these days so I thought I'd post this here, where everyone can see it.

I had never used an HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray gun before I bought one at Orscheln ($85). They only require about 25 PSI and put most of the paint on the workpiece instead of in the air. In fact, I can barely see any overspray in the air after using it extensively. Looking around the shop I don't see any overspray on other equipment or the floor either. So, I guess you don't need a paint booth.

The finish is going on nice, even and covering well. It is quick and easy to master. The documentation says you can shoot anything with it - Latex, Enamel, Lacquer, Urethane, Epoxy.

I doubt I'll ever shoot with a regular high pressure gun again. Tractor painters of the world, unite!

What size air line do you have going to the gun?

I was told that I would need a 3/8 line so the gun would work properly, HVLP, High volume of air, low pressure.

My air hose is 3/8" x 50'. If you're referring ot a rigid pipe, I'd suspect 1/4" or larger would be fine. My inline dryer/filter is 1/4" pipe thread.

been useing one of them since they came out back in 89 or so ya they cut down on paint waste in & on everything, works good for everything i guessing u got a top loader ( gravity feed ) ? as there so much nicer than old suction style easier to paint around things & low to ground.
