I am a first time tractor buyer. I have the chance to buy a 185 Allis Chalmers with a rebuilt 6 cylinder diesel, fresh paint job, and new tires. It comes with a loader that I am told is valued at about $2,000 and a brand new Bushhog 7 foot brushhog. is this a good deal or about normal? I need help thank you

High in my opinion.I know where there is an AC 190 XT new engine, tranny just repaired with AGCO gears, almost new loader, cab with heat and air for $9,000 and wouldn't offer $8000 unless I wanted to own it.

Sounds high to me,but it depends, how many hours on the rest of the tractor? There's more to a tractor than the engine. That bugger would have to be less than 3000 hours before I'd even concider that price.

Actually it does not sound to bad @ $12,000 if the wheels, tires are good and the transmission and loader work properly. At least in this area.

Do they have reciepts for the engine? It is easy to get $10,000 into a diesel engine that size for a rebuild.

Post on the Allis Chalmers board on this site and see what information they might have for you.
