What works best on those? I know the ford design tractors left a lot to be desired on wheel traction. we use a lot heavier tractor weight wise so fluid is not an issue. I don't care to much for dealing with liquid but will the 550 be useless with out it. Are rear wheel weights an option??

They now have non corrosive liquid made of beet juice that is called rim gaurd. It is non toxic as well. Check with your local commercial tire dealer.

What are you using it for? If you are on sod then bare weight is fine. If you are going to be plowing/disking then yes. Start with putting some weight on that front end. I have almost lost a thumb a few times with the steering wheel kicking when hitting a rut or furrow. 40 HP on a little tractor like that needs weight to use it. I'd try to find some cast iron first, but that is all personal choice. Mike

Fluid is fine for hard working tractors, it acts as a shock absorber.
If you use a 3 point hitch for tillage, then some type of Ferguson draft system will add much traction, only if you know how to use it. follow owners manual. Adjustments are critical.
