Got the 034 Stilh--yeah , now I know should of gotten the commercial saw.

Won't pump oil to the chain , a recurring problem since new. Control wide open . Really big oak fell in my backyard.

Ideas on repair or priming?

Much obliged.

Does that model have an adjustable oiler on the bottom ? I have an 032 ? or is it a 031 ? and it does. Been a very good saw. Only problem was a bad gas cap wouldn't vent when new. Just poked a hole in it.

This assumes that you checked the bar oil channel to make sure it is not plugged. If you haven't checked it take the bar off and make sure it is open. Running the engine with bar removed is not recommended. HTH

Rod:

You put it well. This saw has been a piece of junk. You observe that I must not use it much--that's my point about junk. Saw has less than 100 hours on it , although it is 15 years old.

I'm used to saws that one starts about two times a year, and then abusively use but take all one can give. This Stihl can't cut it. No pun intended.

Sorry about the rant but thanks for the advice and direction. Thanks for confirming , too, something I already knew about the 034 being junk.

You must not use the saw very much...

I don't know too much on the internals of those saws, but I think there's a worm gear type drive in there that we've had go bad on a couple of them... and I think the 34 was one.
I've never thought the 34 was very good as Stihl's go. The one we had was no end of trouble.
I could be wrong on the problem, but I'd guess it's internal, or possible just some dirt in the oiler. Check that first, but if it's not moving any oil at all from the tank, I'd think the problem is with the pump.
