My dad has aquired a nice gun collection over the years. Now that he is getting older, he's thinking about selling some or all of his collection. Problem is the ads he has placed in local papers has not gotten the attention he was hoping for. In some part this is due to the low population of gun collectors in the area he's located. I know this is a wonderful site for tractors & info, but is there a web-site for firearms that works as well as this site does for tractors?

the 1994 AW Ban is now defunct and you can have a flash suppressor, bayonet lug and, etc etc etc... New or old there aren't really any premiums for an older AR and a new RRA or Bushmaster will still run you nearly 4 figures.... you can assemble your own for significantly less.

HR1022 seems to be stalled or dead in it's tracks at the moment so no worries about an AWB being instituted at this time.
Auctionarms gunbroker or gunsamerica are 3 good auction sites to sell and buy from. Many firearms forums around the internet also have an area for you to sell firearms. Could also look into your local firearms dealer consigning some stuff for you.

I'm pretty surprised unless he's got unreasonable prices on them. From what I've seen - used guns have been selling like crazy and the prices keep getting higher. Same with ammo. I'm in New York - and I buy just about any gun if the price is good. I call a lot of newspaper ads - and just about every one is sold when I call - and I usually call the first day. I've been kind of wondering if it has something to do with some of the new legislation being proposed.

There are many popular gun-sale websites and it seems most gun shops use them now. auctionarms, gunbroker, gunsamerica, etc.

I know that Cabella's will take a gun (or guns) on consignment and show them in their gun library to get it to sell. Their is a Cabela's about 1.5 hours south of me in Michigan. I know that a good condition AR-15 pre-ban with banana clip, bayonet lug, flash suppressor will go for about $1200-1600. 20 years ago those guns went for a few hundred new. Their are also books out that will let you know what a certain gun is worth, that way you know the price to ask.

try auctionarms or gunbroker dot com sit are both pretty good. Usually the best thing for states that are still free is to sell or trade them at gun shows
