Well I just put up 60 4x5 round bales on my first haying experience. I had planted about 15 - 18 acres in red top cane that turned out really well due to timely rains we had this year. My uncle sold us his Vicon 1210 baler along with a JD 1209 mower and 10 wheel rake for $5000. I split this with my dad and brother as we all will share this. It seemed to fit my JD 3020 pretty well. It was definately trial and error for me. I had one bale about 300lbs and one that got kicked out without any twine but I learned a lot and had a real good time doing it. Kinda makes you crack a smile looking back at the line of hay stacked. I think I will go ahead and try to get the other 40 acres of lake bottom plowed and ready and see what happens next year.

You just got the best teaching you can get tom, doing it hands on.
It will be easier year after year until youll get where you dont even look at the baler until you know its time

I here that. I remember when I first started round baling, that first year I had some awful odd shaped and funny looking bales. Now I bale like a pro.
