Killed one the other day in the barn when we went out to feed the horses and then I baled some hay and killed 2 more when I was out baling. Seems they don't do to well if you run them over with the front tire and then turn the wheel side to side a few times.

I can go all year without seeing one, but they always seem to show themselves this time of year when the weather begins to cool. A few years ago, I killed 5-6 in one week in early October.

Better be careful about telling that story old. Ain't it against the law to kill a snake in Mo and Arkaksas? Course you did say it got under a tire. Accidents happen don't they?

You think you got dumb laws about wild animals. A couple took in a deer that was hit by a car and helped it back to a healthily but limits walking animal. they have 5 acres and the deer runs loose on it. A neighbor turned them in for having a wild animal(Yes its against the law here in Oregon to have any wild animals) since it can't fend for itself the state people are going to KILL it. Now that makes a lot of sense. Where do we find these Idiots anyway.
MY Rant for the day
Walt PS We also have assisted suicide here. No one is safe.

Ya in Missouri all snakes are protected by law but they do look the other way if you run into one that can hurt you and in this case they could well have hurt some one.

We have copperheads around here. Story goes if you have blacksnakes you don't see copperheads. Must work cause I have several blacksnakes around but haven't seen any copperheads.

Man, we think we have it bad here somedays. The only poisonous snake (rattler) that we have in the state is now a protected species.

I last saw one when I was about 3~4 years old (about 50 years ago). My older brother saw it coiled up and about to strike at me and he ran over and pulled me away. Neighbor killed it and it was such a big deal that we got our picture in the newspaper. Small town back then.

We have garters, northern water snakes, blue racers, blow snakes, and some other serpents but nothing that will hurt you, or your dog.

I like the part about twisting the wheel back and forth on them. I hate snakes, they give me the creeps.

They may be protected by law in Michigan, but I like the advice of an old law enforcement officer, I once knew. "Shoot, shovel, & shut-up!"

The dog got a nasty bite right on the neck 2 or 3 weeks ago. I didn"t see the snake but he swelled something awful. The vet said he was %99 sure it was a copper head and from the size of the bite, a big one. I just hope Lewis (the dog) finished the job. The dry weather seems to have the snakes out and about more.

Rich, we have them here too. I haven't seen any for a while, but did see a big Diamondback rattler 5 or 6 days ago.

Only good thing about the drought here in SoCal is it is hard on the ever abundant Rattlers. Killed one 4 ft long as big around as your wrist a few years back. Aunt lost a big dog to one last year. We kill em where we find em. Got some King snakes showing up around the place now and not many rattlers as the King snake eats them.
