I have had an 8N for the past 4 years (front mount distributor style) that has been a very good tractor for me. It is still a 6 volt system I am not sure the exact horsepower. I recently found a Ferguson TE 20 that has the distributor on the left side, (when sitting on tractor) and alternator (so I am guessing it is a 12-volt system. I am going to sell one of these tractors. If I use the tractor for mowing with a 6 foot finish mower will the Ferguson handle it? (I have never tried). If they are similar in HP and dependability I would rather keep the Ferguson as it is in better shape body wise and will be easier to work on. Anybody that knows anything about this please help.

The Ford 8N has position control for the 3 point but the Ferguson doesn't. With a mower you would have to hang the front on chains like they did on the 9 & 2Ns. The Ferguson has a Lucus electrical system and they can be hard to get parts for , especially the starter and the interlock in the transmission to keep the tractor from starting in gear. I hope this helps you.
