I'm on a temporary assignment in Houston--it may go for several weeks or months. Anyone in this area? Any things to see out in the country? I'm planning to go see the battleship Texas today. Hope everyone is doing OK--since I've been on this job, haven't had much computer time.

If your on the east side...let's have a cup of coffee somewhere sometime.

The Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston is very good. Old Town Spring On !-45 North is good if you are into antiques. Traders village on weekends is a BIG flea market on N. Eldridge. Houston Raceway Park has dirt oval on Friday nights and drag racing on Sat. and Sun(seems there is always something at the drag strip) If you are just looking to kill some time and want to see some nice country , head west on 290. In 20 minutes you are in a hole new world-the city disappears. Hope this gives you some ideas. I will be back in the are in about a month. Oh, and if you happen to be in the area the first part of December-or for that matter you may want to make a trip back-is to see Dickens on the Strand in Galveston(Google it)

While you're there, be sure and trek a few miles south down I-45 and see Galveston Island. Lots to see and do there.

Always lots to see and do in Texas, no matter what part you're in.

I am from about an hour from there, Washington County. There is Blue Bell in Brenham, TX, Washington on the Brazos State Park, College Station is awesome to see on game day.

There is a pull / county fair in Columbus, about an hour down I10 that is always good. That's in 2 weeks.

There is a pull in Richmond on Oct. 27th.

And, if you want to drive, there is the state show in Temple 10/5-7/2007.

Go to the Natural History Museum...very nice. And by all means...enjoy the eye candy that seems to be everywhere in Houston!
