After working on Gary's 1066 last winter, I just couldn't get this 8-blade gizmo out of my head and had to have one for my 966.

Starting to think I have too much free time on my hands. :>(

How do you check for cracks in fans, just clean it up and look, or is there a better way?

There are many procedures used to check for cracks in airplane parts.

Just curious.

either use Magnaflux spray or Magnetic. Magnetic is tough because there isn't a flat surface to work with.

yeah i would definetly check for cracks. fan flew apart on me for the first time on my skidsteer. new fan, rad., and shroud was well over $800. but i bet that fan would realy blow some air and cool her down a little better.

Hey allan

Better make sure that thing is free of cracks.

I've lost two rads that way, and found a couple of fans that were ready to go. Those reinforced fans are more dependable but they still warrant a crack check. Just one of my rant's.

Have a good day

Jim No That was a waterpump problem.

I have had two fan blades break and ruin the radiator. One on my WD45 mower and one on the V8 Theiman that I have since sold.

Caught one before it broke on my 400 and Dave G caught one on a M.

Just has me real weary and now I check blades when doing Rads or water pumps.
