Thanks to all for info on creeper gears in previous post.

Can anybody tell me if any of the '70's and '80's models IH's (eg.: 606, 686, 886, etc. had any real slow gears. Say like 1/2 mph at 1250 rpm.

My MF 2705 with 24 speed goes pretty slow in 1st low, but not quite slow enough.

Thanks,
JP

My CIH 885 with 4 speed, high/low and TA will go about .4 mph at idle in the lowest speed (37 ft / minute) This seems to be pretty slow until you are sitting on a transplanter trying to plant a pepper or cabbage every 17" (about 2.5 sec per plant) Just ask my wife! Need about .25 mph or less, even .125 mph would be good.

I've been looking for something slower also so if you find 2 let me know. A hydro may be the way to go.

Phil

Why do people have trouble with transplanters? We pulled them for years with old 4 speed tractors and had no problems at all. We now pull them with the 484 in second gear at 1450 rpms. I also pull a two row with the 666 in first DD . Can set 10 acres or a little more per day with the two row. I can't imagine going that slow, would never get done.

Yes, Hydro 70, Hydro 86, Hydro 186, I believe there was also an 826 Hydro and a 1066 Hydro...

Don't know if any lower gears were available or not, but my 666 is a straight five speed with TA making 10, and it isn't near as slow as my 84 series with 8 speeds.
