Re: TRACTOR WAR!!!!!!! in reply to how come, 08-09-2007 07:32:18
Can't start a war with me very well, I have a Ford/New Holland GT75/Shibaura Diesel by the name obviously not made in USA. I have a 1944 John Deere Slant Dash A that was my Great Uncles and a 1949 B that was my GPAs that I grew up on. I have a 1959 Farmall 560 Diesel, Drive a Ford Truck and a Pontiac Car. I have a Team of Foxtrotter Horses that I ride and Drive behind a buggy. A Quarter horse for working Cattle. I also have a Scat Trak Skid Steer Loader that was made in Wisconsic with a Perkapillar engine. YEs I said Perkapillar, Perkins was bought out by CAT for their small engines. I have a 1964 Chevy Dump Truck and a 1976 Ford Dump Truck. I am about as mixed up as a fresh gallon of paint. Here is what I can tell you about all of them. They all run and serve their purpose. They have all broken down they have all been fixed, the paint regardless of color fades on them all. There isn't any of them that are flawless. The only thing I could say I can count on is God, My wife, My Children and my Family. We all have flaws too but in the grand scheme of things fortunately God loves me with Grace ( Getting Something I Dont Deserve ) and Mercy ( Not Getting What I Do Deserve ).

I dont get caught up in these wars as they serve no purpose other than to increase blood pressure. My GPA always said, you cant argue a man into heaven and much is true about any argument if you apply the content.

That is my soapbox im not old enough to be wise but I am old enough to read and I have read where it says Wise is the man who holds his tongue, foolish is the man who lashes.

This is a great place with great people and great knowledge.

Robert

We outght to refer to this as the "Learning Impaired" board. I came on this morning when the "wars" post was first made- no responses to it yet. I thought it was because the guys on here had finally wised up, and learned to JUST IGNORE IT, AND NOT RISE TO THE BAIT!!! But I should have known better- just came back on, and here's the usual dozens of replies, yammering about IP addresses, ad nauseum, and some even participating in the war itself. Ain'tcha ever gonna learn????

Two things:

-New rule, anyone pulling this $#!^ put your name then whatever elce.

-If Lance hasent said something to defend himself yet he hasnt yet seen that post. I dont think hes gonna like it, what did he do to deserve that? I would have blamed him too, just wouldnt have said anything without some proof or something. IP addresses are of no help.

Now, see post above. I know Lance is a kid and a little out of line sometimes as I have lectured him some myself. Now all of you that have falsely accused him of starting this thread when it wasn't him, and had harsh words over it towards him owe him an apology. Remember in the future that the IP address numbers that everyone caries on about mean absolutely nothing.

Well, George, you're half-right: The IP address thing doesn't prove he did it, but it doesn't prove he didn't do it, either.

Let's stick with the original conclusions drawn by Brokenwrench and Catskill Pete about tractors: They're all good, no matter the color, and Tonka rules!

Oh, and lastly: Please don't feed the trolls.

I wasn't trying to prove he didn't do it. My point is that folks want to draw conclusions about who they think is posting some of these threads, when in reality you just don't know. The IP deal does not prove anything one way or the other. I based my post on information from a post above taking credit for starting this nonsense. I never get involved with my tractor is better than yours post as it is pointless. Tractors are like cars, truck, boats, planes and everthing else. You will have good ones and bad ones in all brands and models.

Just another example of the out and out stupidity posted by the yuppies, wanna-be farmers, or small time gardeners, that overpopulate this site. Individually, or collectively, 99 per cent of the users of YT.STEWPID wouldn't know real agriculture if it came up and bit them on their arse.

We go upon a very slippery road when we try to determine who is who.I believe all posts should be treated as anonymous unless a poster wants to reveal something. A person could have a bad day and say something stupid or embarrassing and then have somebody track him back. Well Yeh maybe for a terrorist but not just a dude with a different opinion. Maybe I'm crazy but I always felt comfortable expressing an opinion that was not directly harming any individual or our Country. To see that some may immediately rise to some tracking about some lame post tells me I don't know what harm this person has done or that some good folk may be jumping the gun alittle. If you want to entirely blow somebody away there is a place not too far away.

They don't know that for certain. This guy's IP and mine are the same as they are from dial up service and it can be different the next time I sign on. We have this discussion over IP numbers at least twice a month. it seems. Now if you have DSL or whatever each number is unique to an individual computer. That is not the case on dial up service.

Lanse, I don`t post alot but have follwed some of your posts from time to time. I will say you seem like an energetic young guy who is willing to try things and learn from his mistakes, Hats off to that...But you`ve just hit one of my biggest pet peeves. What you have to understand is the majority of folks on this sight have either used or made a living with all the different colors of tractors. Some have found a fondness for certain brands.. Whether you like it or not, do you really think that `one of` the biggest icons in US agriculture "sucks" as you put it. I have been lucky enough to be on many different tractors over the years, and have found things I like and dislike about all of them. I round bale with an 8670 Ford, heck of a tractor, but theres still something about those 30,40,50 series deeres that I feel more at home in. Probably because a 4430 was the first big tractor I got to spend much time operating as a kid. My grandfather farmed a 300 acre dairy farm with 2 cyl deeres and his big horse was a 5 star moline. We still have the R moline that he bought new. There are hundreds of folks on here that will have the same story just switch the brands or models around. My advice to you is stick to what you know, if you have a little Ford and it treats you good, be happy, be proud of it, but don`t tell me what my hard earned money has bought "sucks"... BW

Brokenwrench dude. You have stated it perfectly. Why start a war when none exist. All these machines are great. They give me pride and I don't even use the larger ones. That says America to me. These fine Internationals and John Deere s all over the world. There is proper and there is perfect and there is damn fine appeciation. That appreciation is spoken in many language we don't understand but when they pat that green, yellow or red steamin beast it rings clear.

That IP adress is a address for anyone using dial up AOl service. Mine may very well be the same and I am not Lanse. There is about 4 that I know of different IP addresses that my computer puts up there. Everyone should quit making these assumptions that you know who it is just by that IP. It just isn't a fool proof method of ID.
