I had a bad rattle comming from my catalytic convertor on my 99 GMC Van. I called the dealer, and found out it is still covered under warrenty, even though the van is 8 years old. I had only one more month on the manufactures warrenty. I saved 900.00 this time, as the dealer told me this is what it would cost to replace the cat. Stan

I think cats have a longer warrentee on them on them seperate from what the car has on it.

Congrats! I love it when that happens. I had a vehicle once that I took to a dealer when the AC compressor went on it within 1 month of the extended warranty running out. They (names with held for protection) went over the whole car, and replaced the rack and pinion and the real brake cylinders. Told me to tell them I found the problems if questioned. Saved me a good chunk of change as well. Go over your van carefully and see if you can get anything else out of them!
