Well I did it yesterday! I changed doctors because of not feeling comfortable with the first doctor so I was pushed back a week. I was very nervous going in but, the procedure itself was painless and quick. The doctor set my target vision at 20/15 both eyes as he said I was a good canidate. The surgery center was 2 hours away so I keep my eyes closed on the way home and tried to sleep for another 3 when I got home. When I got up from my nap my vision was perfect. I sat outside in my gazebo last night and watched the deer in the fields. Now here I am the next morning and my eyes are just like I was when I was a kid. My up close vision is perfect as well. How awesome. Thanks to everyone that responded to my request. You guys along with a lot of praying really helped me make my descision to go ahead with the surgery. Jim

It's wonderful what they can do with the tools they have now.I had lens implants years ago, then detatched retnia(sp) surgery in both eyes.Took along time to heal, but now have fair vision. Continue to see doctor for regular laser repair for tares(sp) .Life is good..... ..... ..... ..

Welcome to the miracle. It's been 4 or 5 years for me and I still marvel at it. Eventually your vision will probably settle in at 20/20. I was 20/15 for a couple of years.

They really come a long ways in a few years. It took a couple of days before my fog was gone completely, and a couple of weeks before I was 100%.

Jay

Jay surprisingly I have no fog or discomfort. Doctor says thats rare and must be because I kept my eyes closed right after surgery. Just came back from my post op exam and tested at 20/15 both eyes. Could not be happier. Thanks again for your help. Jim

When I posted my initial question on Lasik I was seeking advise from others who had had it done but, in the event that I actually went through with it I wanted to leave a thread for others in the future to use as a reference to help them make their descision. It really helps to have a reference from people with similar lifestyle to your own as well as people that you see as genuinly nice people. This site is full of very nice people with a lot to offer each other in the way of informationand freindship and prayers and support when needed. I rarely post but am here almost every day and feel like I have come to know a lot of you and I pray for those that need it. Im sure there are a lot of others that gain a lot from the people on this site that we don't know about. Thank You and good luck with your quest towards Lasik. If you do decide to do it and have any questions or concerns, contact me and I will help you in any way that I can. May God bless You. Jim

Thanks Tim. Yes I was scheduled for the 27th but, I just did not feel comforatable with the doctor. They were evasive when asked about their equpitment and the final blow for me was when they only would accept cash on the day of the surgery. No credit card or check. They expected me to trust my eyes with them, yet they could not trust me to pay. what the heck is that. Anyway I found a surgon that was made me feel much more confident. Funny thing was I was nervous and praying constantly as to wether or not I should do the procedere when I was scheduled with the first doctor. After making the decsision to change doctors my fears over having the procedure disappeared. I feel that God has lead me to the doctor that would do the best for me. I am sooooo
happy with my new eyes. Thanks again for helping me with my descision. Jim

Jim, I'm so glad to hear to that you sought first, our Father before making your decision. Few people do these days. Right now, I'm in the middle of a major career "opportunity" so am diligently seeking the Lord's guidance and direction on that, too.

I have yet to also talk to a doctor any further on Lasik. 10 years ago, it was not as feasible for my eye situation, but it was still a relatively new procedure back then as well.
