I was bailing some hay last weekend and I noticed my bailer stopped turning. I stopped for a minute and it started turning again. The drive line going from the tractor to the bailer even stopped. Are the PTO cluches worn? If so how do you change them.

Power shift or a quad range?? check cab mounts sometimes they break and throws off the linkage---check adjustment on linkage---power shift has a nut that can come loose on the short rod on the top of the transmission case ---clutches are a split job and different for power shift or quad range---got a book??? check pressures after the linkages

Does the tractor have plenty hydraulic oil in it? I have had mine on several tractors stop from time to time if low on Hy oil.

Before ripping into the transmission, find out what is wrong. Put a pressure gauge on the pto clutch apply circuit. If the pto stops with the proper apply pressure then maybe the clutch is faulty. When was the last time the hydraulic oil, oil filter and screen were changed or serviced? Has your 4430 had the rear axle upgrade? What serial number? Do you have the operator's and service manuals?
