What are you guys paying for a single stage auto quality paint, I want to paint a tractor but don't want to spend a fortune on paint, but wanted to get a better than TSC finish. Can you add hardener to this paint, like from napa or SW,. Just looking for something that i Can prime the tractor then paint it with a decent paint thanks for the input.

Now i am CHEAP all my tractors have been painted with what i buy at the local Case I H store and add a dab of Du Pount 77s hardner to it and they look good and it lasts . But i do not skimp on the paint the last 806 that i painted we used three and a half gallon of 2150 red on the tractor and qt. of the cub cadet white for the white. That paint job was good enough to be on the cover of fast line mag. and my pride and joy S/MTA was painted with the same paint and it was good enough to be in the 94 Red Power video .

I agree. you just can't go wrong with the Case-IH paint, but in the same breath I will add that the Van-sickle brand does seem to have improved quite a bit from what it used to be. I've been experimenting with it on items where it really didn't matter if I got a top notch job, and it has always turned out much better than expected.

I painted our 4010 with Van Sickle and am not impressed, the paint doesn't seem to stick very well at all...I have had some peel off after several weeks of drying.

O'Reilly auto parts in our area has stock ag colors premixed in a single stage Dupont paint for $35 a gallon or will custom mix to match for $135 a gallon...needless to say the next repainting I do will be using the $35 a gallon Dupont instead of the $22 a gallon Van Sickle.
