I am in need of a tractor tire that is 14.9*28. I need something in within 150 miles of central ky. I priced a new one placed on the tractor(at my farm) with fluid and a new tube-500 dollars. It seemed pretty high-anybody out there got any suggestions.
Ps it can be a used one with 50% or more remaining tread.

I AGREE SOMETIMES THE BEST MONEY SPENT IS FOR
PEACE OF MIND . WHEN YOUR USING YOUR TRACTOR
THE LAST THING YOU NEED IS TIRE FAILURE .REPLACE TIRE & TUBES THEY WILL LAST. BUT IF THINGS ARE
TIGHT REPLACE THE ONE . BEEN THERE DONE THAT .

I know you are looking for 14.9s but I have a nearly new set of 13.6 X 28s that Id sell you for 450. Includes a set of four bar spin out rims (tires are mounted). Shoot me an e-mail if you have interest. Thanks, Dave

For an installed tire that you do nothing more than write the check for, that isn't bad... especially if it was a Firestone.
Used tires are a crap shoot most of the time, unless you know why they were removed. I don't take them off because they still have running left in them...

May as well purchase a matched pair. Shipping isn’t going to be much different. The other tire on your tractor is likely about ready to fail as well.

How fast do you need it? I've got a new set on the way (from Northern Ohio) They should be here in 4 or 5 days. Then I'm taking off a pair of old ones. One is in good shape, 60% to 70% tread. Other is same tread but a 3" rip in the sidewall. I'm in Bullitt County Ky. I'll take $100 for the pair when the new ones are here.

Look around for a tire dealer in an agricultural area..They sometimes have take-offs that are pretty good..I've had good luck up here in Ohio with Orwell Tire for used tires..

The time you drive up to 300 miles return, possibly pay someone to install it,buy a tube anyways, and buy the fluid anyways, may as well pay 500 for the new one, just my opinion anyways.pd

I second that, $500 ain't bad, look at what a pickup tire costs.

My son in law just had a set of Chinese made East One brand tires put all the way around on his MF 255 for $800 total including fluid and the guy came to his place and did it (Greenup Co., Ky.). Now, I don't know if the tires are worth having..they look good enough to me, and a damn sight better than the ones he had...LOL! For what he'll use that tractor for...he'll probably never know the difference and who knows...may be surprised and get great service from them.
