Does anybody here own a massey 255? I am buying one and want to know what the feed back is to this machine. Any common problems? Is the horsepower good? Road speed? Thanks in advance

The 255 was an excellent tractor. I am happy and
surprised tho that MF #1 has such positive feedback on the 203 engine. We sold them new and
had vibration problems with the 203 and put various kits on the tractor to compensate. I
prefer the 236 engine but glad that not all 203
engines were a problem. Chuck

Yep! We had the vibration kit put on also, really didn"t do much but it still runs like a scalded-a** ape. Two cousins bought 255"s within a couple years of this one, both had the 236D. One ran a feed grinder for his dairy. He came over for some corn one time and his pto messed up. We swapped the tractors and let that "little" 203 have a go. Afterwards he couldn"t believe the power it had compared to his, he couldn"t choke it like before. The dealer dynoed it once after about a year of use, 55HP without turning up the pump.

Might post this on the MF board, or do a Search there. Had one since "75 or so with the 203D, excellent engine, fairly easy on fuel, HP is good. Also came with the 236D. Road speed is about 22mph?!? in 4 high, no MP.
