bcpa is it a automatic transmission vehichle? If so check flex-plate on torq- comvertor. I bought a '77 power wagon that wouldn't spark and found out flex-plate was broken. Engine wouldn't spin over. Replaced flex-plate and drove it for years. Tx Jim

bc,since I seem to have less and less time to lurk here, kick me an e-mail if you continue to fight it. I am trying to remember, did dodge have the lean burn out on trucks yet in 79? That is the most useless system I have ever seen but either way i have ciphered out how to wire the dist. to the module thru the resistors. Kinda sounds like pick-up coil to me tho. Chilton book has a very in depth diagnostic chart that can't be beat. Good luck. Fred

You have a balist resister on fire wall.A squire electrical brain, thats known to go bad.If you check the back it may have melted. Also a set up in the distributer. The easest way to do it is pull the thing out.Don't worry about your timing. your eather in or 180 out.The coil you can check by shorting on engine. B carful it'l bite. My 79 had the 360 Good Luck Jim

Pull the dist cap off and see if the dist shaft turns. Might be a timing chain or the rollpin on the dist gear sheared. I've seen both happen.
