Is $700 reasonable for a 12 h.p. AC lawn tractor in good condition with a 42 inch deck and new deck bearings? Seems like 12hp is small for this large of a mower base. Has hydro trans. No other attachments.

If it is something like a 712H it'll wear out 2 or 3 of the $1000+ tin POS mowers like Walmart sells so is $700 high? Also it will hold its value unlike the Walmart tractor that you'll have to pay someone to haul off once something flys apart on it.Also lots of neat quality attachments can be bought very reasonable for this tractor

This ain't the one on ST37 just west of Ogdensburg NY is it? If so it's way high for the condition.

I would think that the price would depend on which Allis-Chalmers Lawn Tractor this is. Some of the older models, in good condition, are bringing some good money.

$500.00 is more in line for this unit. Unless the unit has been completely serviced, oil changed, new points, cond, plugs, filters, etc.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but if its a garden tractor with with a cast iron engine its 12HP engine is the equivelent of a 16-18HP engine on a new model. My JD 110 has a 10hp Koehler running a 39" deck and my Cub 1450 has a 14HP Koehler running a 50" deck, neither is lacking for power.

The price does seem a bit high, but its not completely out line.

12HP is plenty of power for 42" deck. $700 seems like top dollar for such a rig.
