I work for Ste. Michelle Wine Estate and am looking for vintage tractors that I might be able to put on display in the lobby of an Albertsons in Fall City and a QFC in Lynnwood. The tractor would need to be no larger than 4' wide x 10' long. Does anyone know how I might find something like this to show the public for the month of August? Would need to be delivered to stores by next Friday (27th). Thanks!

You may want to try over in "weekendfreedommachines.com'. Some of those guys have nice garden tractors. Also Olive Super 44 or 440's would work, but they are quite scarce.

How about a pic of the label on the wine bottle? Is it red or green?

NW IHC collectors Chapter 30 might be able to help, but doubt you'll get a response on such short notice. Here's a link, should have the chapter president's name and contact info. You would be looking for either a Cub or an A, nothing else will be close to fitting in your width.

David, You might be able to contact some vintage tractor clubs in your area that may have what you are looking for in the display you are attempting to come up with. Sounds like a neat display if they can get a tractor through the doors of the store. OR, it might be easier and more visable to put a large tractor or two in front of the store with banners from Ste. Michelle over it. Tape or rope surrounding the tractors could keep people away from them. Just a thought so you can get it done.

10 feet long is no problem, but 4' wide is kinda hard to find.

The perfect one would be a vineyard special Ford 8N, but they are a bit scarce. I hear they are more plentiful in the California wine country, but I've never seen one in person...only in photos. I had a chance to buy one over the internet for $2500 and should have done it.

They were ordinary 8N Ford tractors that were then narrowed by shortening the rear axles. I don't know what the final width was but 4' sounds about right. A standard 8N is about 6' wide depending on where the wheels are adjusted to.

Jim, I think I saw a MF TO 30 Vineyard on Classic tractors as well. The guy also had a half size he made. One of these is what I would look for(Ford or MF) if I made wine and had vineyards.

I do not think you are unreasnonable in trying to limit the size to about 4x10 feet. There are many small farm tractors that would fit in that space such as A/C B/J.D. L/LA - CENTAUR/KV22/36.Leader,Earthmaster,SILVER-KING R-38 etc. (4+10+)

Good luck finding one that doesn't dribble oil on the nice shiney floor or carpet.

Check with your local tractor clubs in your area. Some of those guys might hook you up. A Farmall Cub would work, they will fit between the fender wells of a wide bed pickup. I have hauled them in one several times. How is the wine? Good Luck

The 4' wide is going to be a serious problem. You are looking at garden tractor size not farm tractor. Second you are going to have a problem with someone that has put a lot of time and money into a tractor willing to put it in a place where the soccer moms are going to let their "angels" crawl all over it. Its different at tractor shows as most keep their children under control and will at least ask for permission. JMHO.

Thanks for the quick response, JMHO. You bring up some great points. The tractor will actually be surrounded by cases of wine (one of our brands, Snoqualmie, has a vintage tractor on the packaging) so no children can climb on the tractor. There will also be signage posted to prohibit climbing/touching of the tractor to protect investments and guard all parties against legal threats. Thinking your spot-on with having a hard time finding someone that would let us show their garden tractor. Thought I'd try anyway - if anyone knows anything or has any contacts, it'd be appreciated. Again, JMHO, thanks for your valuable input and advice.
