OK guys, I kind of understand you taking those old junkers to town and havng fun with them. But wait 5 years and see what happens. It'll be Like a 39 IHC with a 12 cyl allison direct hooked to axle with 500 dollar each traction tires...if your stock you might as well sit on the porch. Until then, have fun. Kennyp

I used to have a 1962 Chev C-60 grain truck with a 454 in it.You could break the rear tires loose pretty easy on gravel. It was heck on clutches and was probably the fastest 2 ton in these parts. It caught fire and burnt up in 1985.

I'm sorry, I must be getting old or am with the wrong kind of people, but some thing about racing grain trucks realy turns me off. Are these the same people that buy 40,000 dollar 4 wheelers and then take them out to get stuck or climb the highest rocky hills until they break them? Just not the way I treat my equipment.

Boy, I think I'm with you Kenny, growing up we didn't trash things because it wasn't the latest greatest...there's lots of people out there still running those old straight trucks...hell, that box is in way better shape than what we ran wheat to the bins with... It's getting pretty sad that nobody has respect for their stuff anymore, the attitude that "I'll just buy another one" is killing this country...

They are not trashing anything! They are fixing up old trucks that either get a thrown rod now when they will work, or they sit and rot for 50 years then get set on fire by teenagers.

Relax Ken, obviously this is just the last stop before the torch for these trucks. I seriously doubt those guys would race 'em if they were money makers. One last blaze of glory for the old girls.

No need to worry about these trucks-I doubt there will be any worth over $500. I pulled 2 of mine out of the fencerow where they have been sitting for at least 4 years. Here is a pic of the one I will be driving.

Just down the road a bit in Lincoln (logan county) they're having those also. I'm just not sure of when they are. I know of some good runners, but too good to race.

This one is probably too good, but no guts, no glory.

I'll give you $400 cash for that Loadstar, just to keep it from being "raced."

Believe it or not, the IH got sold this morning and the new owner is not taking possesion 'till after the race, assuming it does not get roughed up too bad. I have been trying to sell that truck for two years for $900, and could not get an offer. We are not trying to intentionally tear these up, but you never know what can happen. The green '57 chevy (not shown) is the roughest as it has been sitting outside for about 6 years. The blue '57 would be for sale-sweet running 283 and all. Bed has a very good steel tread-plate floor and I used it mainly for a flatbed years ago. It had been sitting outside for about 4 years. Nobody would make me an offer on that one, either. Around here, if it is not a big, late model tandem or,preferrably, a semi, nobody wants it. These are too good to junk, too rough to use.
