OT, 2,4-D versus Crossbow for Ironweed

I have been renovating my hayfields the last two years by spraying them with generic 2,4-D. It has done an outstanding job but now I am left with the few weeds that it doesn't do a good job on and they are flourishing, namely tall ironweed.

I am in north-central KY.

All the Univ. of KY research that I can look up and read (and understand) says that the active ingredient in Crossbow is more effective than 2,4-D for ironweed.

My question is, have any of you guys in this or surrounding areas used Crossbow on ironweed and if so, how did it work?

The stuff is much more expensive then 2,4-D and I would like some positive testimonials before I go buy a bunch of the stuff and start spraying it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Rifle has worked very well for us in the passed.

Matter of fact I sprayed about 200 gallons of it today.

Very good on woody plants and briars.

On the horse farm that I worked at we used 2-4-D and Banvel with excellent results.

Crossbow is just 2-4D + Tordon for brush control. Works great on all types of brush, and hard to kill/woody weeds. There is a more generic called Grazon, that works just as well. If you add a small amount of surfactant like .8 oz. per gallon it will make it burn down quicker. We also add some Remedy to aid in brush kill.
